Vitamin recommendations apart from Pregnacare?

Pregnacare gives me terrible constipation so I really don't want to take it again.

I've been taking well woman whilst TTC which hasn't given me any problems but on their Q&A page they recommend you move to pregnacare (I guess they would) and don't explicitly say well woman is safe for pregnancy.

So does anyone know if Well Woman is ok or have any other recommendations for vitamins?

I prefer asda own brand pregnancy vitamins, pregnacare make me feel nauseous! I think well woman contain vitamin A so wouldn't be any good during pregnancy.

Regarding the constipation, it could be caused by the extra iron, try taking the tablets with a glass of orange juice and making sure you are having enough fruit and veg. If you still struggle, don't take a multi vitamin and simply have folic acid and vitamin D but ask the midwife to check you aren't anaemic if you're not taking any iron supplement.

I take Boots own Pregnancy Plus vitamins - cheaper than Pregnacare, jam packed with all the vitamins needed and have so far been great!

guff (hello!) I'm taking Solgar prenatal vitamins - good value for money and I haven't experienced any side effects. It sounds silly but the 2 times I took Pregnacare I ended up having a MMC - a complete coincidence of course but I'm superstitious now!!

Ah ok, these are good suggestions, I'll give some different ones a go. Thanks for the advice.

I have been taking Seven Seas Pregnancy vitamins, which seem to be on a permanent 3 for 2 at Sainsburys.

I just took folic acid, vitamin d (boots do these combined for about 99p) and omega 3 capsules (again, boots do 6 months' supply for less than £10).

If you eat a balanced diet you shouldn't really need other vitamins - as my midwife said, it's just a way of producing very expensive urine!

The boots own brand ones are rank - I used to retch each time I took them. Sanatogen (& pregnacare) were easier to take.

LostMySocks · 01/07/2013 23:03

Have taken sanatogen but now on 7 seas. Neither have caused me any probs. I go with whatever on 3 for 2 and then see what's in them. There was an article about iodine the day or so before I needed to buy some more and 7 seas had iodine so went with that

I took the Zita West ones - they were expensive but I'd had ivf so was superstitious about taking these as I'd had acupuncture at the Zita west clinic (mug, much?!).

I took Boots own brand but found them horrid - big, made me nauseous, constipation. Much prefer Pregnacare but might be the other way round for you? Grin
