15 week pregnant and my boyfriend has a rash

Hi,

My boyfriend has had a rash for about 24 hours, he called the doctors this morning and they said he could go in this afternoon once the midwife had left as he shouldn't be around pregnant women. He told her I was pregnant and she just said "Oh"

I'm now really worrying that it could be something that could harm the baby. Does anyone have any experience with anything like this?

Hiya, don't know much about this but didn't want to read and run, maybe they thought the rash could be chickenpox, i know pregnant women are advised to stay away from chickenpox, although as far as I'm aware, if you've already had it the risk to baby is very low.
Was it a receptionist who told him that? At my doctor's I find the receptionists sometimes think they know more than the actual doctors and like to diagnose over the phone before deciding if you're worthy of an appointment or not xx

Sensible precautionary measure... they can't really say much more till they've diagnosed his rash?

If it's just a rash without being unwell then less likely something contagious & potentially worrying to pregnant women. Some of the exposure issues also depend on which trimester.

If it's something contagious get your boyfriend to ask their advice/referral on your behalf (he would need to know your gestation and previous exposures/vaccinations history) if you're at the same doctors or call yours.

A rash could be lot's of things.

Allergy
an illness
skin that has reacted on the sun or something else the skin has been in contact with.

You might want to be careful as you don't know what it's yet. But don't panic. So far you don't know what it's and it could be anything.
