Hi, I am 35 weeks in to my first pregnancy. Over the last few weeks I have been diagnosed with diabetes and am now on tablets and insulin. I have been advised about the risks and benefits of early induction of labour and waiting for natural labour to happen and after a lot of thought we have decided to go for the induction of labour and have come to terms with this and not having the more "natural" birthing experience I had hoped for.
However throughout this we have been having regular growth scans (thankfully baby is a little bigger than average but not huge) and baby remains stubbornly breech despite my best efforts for optimal fetal positioning.
We will be having another position scan at 37 weeks (although based on duration she has been breech we are not optimistic about her turning). If she remains breech we will be offered ECV or C-section.
Am interested to know if anybody has had the experience of ECV followed by induction of labour? Part of me wanders if it is too much stress to put baby through, both procedures having risks of fetal distress and needing emergency section, but at the same time is it unfair not to give self and baby the chance of the most normal delivery we can expect?
A planned c-section is not something that worries me, lots of family and friends have had these but something tells me I should at least try for a delivery.
I would love to hear about any one elses experiences.
