Vegas whilst pregnant

My DH has surprised me with a pre baby holiday to Vegas. But it's in July so its going to be really hot and I will be 23 weeks pregnant.
Is there anything I need to do differently to a normal holiday there? Apart from the obvious drinking extra water etc.
I am really looking forward to it but just don't know how much different its going to be to our last few holidays there. And the 10 hour flight is a slight worry.
Any advice would be greatfully appreciated xxx

Flight socks for the journey.
Plenty of water.
You might need to take a few more rests than normal as lots of walking to be done in Vegas but enjoy, very jealous!! Where you staying?

We are staying in the Mandalay bay as thought it has a it has a lovely pool for me to just chill out even if DH wants to go walking. We have been a few times before and stayed in the Monte Carlo, MGM and New York New York. So wanted to try somewhere different this year.
I'm hoping to spend a lot of time shopping for my little princess hehe xx

I'm going to be in Vegas pregnant in july too! Its the start to a California trip with DH and DS when I'm 20 weeks - hot hot...

I looked at Mandalay bay as pool looks great but decided on the signature place at MGM as they have suites with a kitchen which looks useful for 5 yo DS.

To top it all off I'm going to be flying out with DS and DH coming on two days later as we've found out he has to go to a meeting. 11 hour flight with DS then two days in Vegas for pregnant lady and 5 yr old DS!! Rock and roll..... Any tips for what we can do apart from lots of pool time??

X

Just a lot of water.
And rest. Even if you feel fine, you will regret it later if you don't rest. (Talking from experience. Went on a trip when I was 24 weeks. Did a lot of walking and shopping after 4 hours my whole entire body was aching that I still don't remember how we got to our car.)

But most of all enjoy it

I am off to Vegas in one weeks time and will only be 10 and a half weeks but I have flight socks (plus walking around plane often) and in Vegas will be drinking lots of water and stopping for a drink to cool down and rest every so often. I hope it's not too knackering! The heat is worrying me the most.

I have never been to Vegas so also don't know how it will be being there whilst pregnant. No cocktails for me ??

i got married in vegas, love the place!

you will have a fab time. on the heat front, stay in the shade, try to relax. i live in a country where it is currently 47 degrees, i am managing just fine being pregnant.

there is fabulous AC everywhere so i actually feel like the UK is hotter and sweatier when i visit!

Plenty to do without drinking/ gambling. Watch the fountains at bellagio a few times (they are different at different times), go to the aquarium, see the lions on MGM, the flamingos in Flamingo, go up stratosphere. Enjoy!

Littlemissexpecting · 17/06/2013 17:35

Petit you could take ds to see the dolphins at the mirage.
Enjoy the shops, they will be lovely and cool with the air con!

It will be stunningly hot, it's stunningly hot in June.
However, you should be able to get decent maternity clothes. My best ones came from the states.

Otherwise you will be fine, I went to Washington at 20pluse weeks took DD1 (2.5) out to join DH and traveled around. Had a great time.

RJM17 · 17/06/2013 21:03

We have found a few things that we plan on doing like mini golf and the aquarium and a few other bits! Can't wait now. Really looking forward to some chill out time just the two of us before we become a family.
And we go the day after our 20 week scan so will be doing lots of shopping for our little one whilst there xx

I've never posted before but I went to Vegas back in April when I was about 10 weeks so thought I'd share....

Midwife echoed the "plenty of water on the flight" advice and we made sure I was on an aisle for regular loo trips! If you beam at one of the cabin crew and explain you're pregnant they'll bring you a big bottle of water and we paid extra with Virgin for "extra legroom" seats.

I did walk as much as possible but wished I had bought cycling shorts for under my dress as it was warm and I had a bit of chafing Blush.

We go over there every year and would normally have a large breakfast and then skip lunch but I was struggling with regular hunger pangs and horrid reflux/retching so I made sure I had lunch and regular snacks.

I sunbathed a little bit but wore a hat and factor 50 and didn't stay out for long (although that's sound advice even when you aren't pregnant!)

Also try not to end up sitting next to any smokers in the casinos. I just moved if someone lit up next to me.

Anyway sorry for rambling - hope this helps!

Just make sure you're well insured.

And remember that everywhere indoors is air conditioned, so take layers or else you'll freeze.

Ellen7 · 21/06/2013 22:11

I second the layers advice, it's only hot when you're outside but cold indoors, which i think makes the outside feel hotter than it is sometimes.

RJM17 · 22/06/2013 11:13

We have been a few times before and love the place which is why we wanted to have our last couple holiday there :-)
I am really looking forward to it and I have been on the Internet and found a shop called motherhood which has some fabulous maternity clothes. So going to buy some nice summer stuff there.
I am sooo looking forward to the break x
