When to buy nursing bras

I am 37 weeks and have big boobs. Have to shop at specialist big booboid places like bravissimo which are a good 45 minutes away by public transport (don't drive). Am I ok to buy nursing bras now, or will they cease to fit when the milk comes in a few says post-birth? I have heard this is a bit of a 'Dolly Parton' moment which worries me as they started off that size before I was pregnant (although sadly the rest of me is far from Dolly-sized). I am going to look like I'm smuggling watermelons.

Anyway, should I buy nursing bras to fit now, or a size or two up? Or will I have to make my leaky, swollen way to be measured at an uber-booboid shop with a newborn in tow?

the lady in the bra shop I go to said to go back at 38 weeks for a nursing bra. can't guarantee that's right as I'm having my first and not got that.point yet but that's what I was told!!

If you go to bravissimo now, they'll fit you with room for when your milk comes in. And yes, it's an overnight growth of 1-2 cup sizes.

I've already beenmeasured as a hh at 8 weeks and now at 22 weeks need a refit Confused

I feel your pain!

My experience was 2 cup sizes overnight. But somewhere like bravissimo know their stuff and should be able to help. A week or two at this stage won't make a lot of difference, and you will be glad of it as travelling a few days after birth is not an easy option. Also be aware your ribs may have gone down an inch or two by then, if you think they have spread. I went for a slightly smaller band and had some extenders at home in case they were needed, but the ribs moved very quickly for me.

Thanks all that's great - will go next week and put myself in the hands of the professionals, so to speak!

I have the same problem - normally a 32E and have grown to a 32GG at 37 weeks Shock

In my last pregnancy I went to Bravissimo a few weeks before I was due and took their advice about what size to wear. Unfortunately I found the bras they had selected really uncomfortable and ended up having to go back when DS was a few weeks' old.

I'd go before the birth but perhaps only get one - or get two but keep the tags on - as it's difficult to predict exactly what will happen to your boobs

At antenatal we were told to go 10 days post-birth.

So I'm just waiting til after, though I've got a couple of nursing sleep bras which aren't a specific size.

See what happens boob-wise!

Thanks, think I will follow blobby's advice! Certainly can't go around bra-less - would be a danger to myself and others!
