Sorry title may be a bit confusing! Just after some positive vibes really. TTC dc2 but dh travels a lot with work and his company seem to be conspiring to have him out of the country during my ovulation period! This is the third month in a row! Grrrr! He's away again from tomorrow but I don't think I will be ovulating until Sunday/Monday. I know sperm is supposed to live for 5 days or so making it possible to conceive several days later but just wondered if this had actually happened for any mumsnetters??

Hope that makes sense!!

I thought I knew when I was ovulating/when I had conceived, but it was actually 4 days earlier according to all scans so far!! I never did any ov sticks or anything so I was just guessing really anyway!! hope it goes well for you, I'm sure you'll hit the right time soon!!

Me! It was definitely 4 days before ovulation and I'm 23 weeks pregnant now :-) good luck there is hope for you yet!

cupcake78 · 14/06/2013 04:56

Yes I did, 38+2 now.

fanjodisfunction · 14/06/2013 06:22

I did, well we dtd then the next day I fell ill with the flu for the week, I was suppose to ovulate that week. I thought I had missed the window, but I'm now 20 weeks pg.

dopeysheep · 14/06/2013 06:39

Yes. I think it's more likely if there is already sperm at the station to meet the incoming train that thry won't miss each other.
In fact I think ( and have no scientific basis for this whatsoever) that if the little guys are waiting then the egg might get rolling a bit early to meet them.
Good luck!

Yup definitely. Conceied at day 9 of my cycle both times. And only dtd once both times too!

Thanks everyone, that's really encouraging! Fingers crossed for some strong and patient little swimmers!! Grin

Yes we dtd on day 7, having finished my period on day 5.
I have shorter cycles so wouldn't have expected to ovulate till day 11.

I am sure that in this scenario, it can often be a girl as the boy sperm die off quicker, leaving the lady sperm to find the egg.

lucidlady · 14/06/2013 07:28

Me too - DTD the week before ovulation and am now 5+3.

Iwish · 14/06/2013 07:40

We dts on a Wednesday and I OVd on the Friday xx

Iwish · 14/06/2013 07:41

*dtd

COCKadoodledooo · 15/06/2013 09:33

Me too. Ds2 was apparently conceived when dh was in Finland. (dtd Saturday, dh left Sunday and I ovulated on Tuesday).

Stixswhichtwizzle · 15/06/2013 10:05

Yep! DTD once 3 days pre-ov. and not again until after. I now have a 9 month old.

Fakebook · 15/06/2013 11:11

I definitely conceived a week before ovulation, or the sperm hung around a few days until the egg came down or something! This is why I think I'm having a girl.

onceipopicantstop · 15/06/2013 20:09

This is all sounding good! DH left early yesterday, but I had a positive OPK in the morning and have had a lot of what I think are ovulation pains today. So.....fingers crossed Smile

That is the theory behind shettle's method - I am proof that it is far from 100% accurate (see name!!). However I feel blessed to be mum of soon to be 3 boys, always preferred blue to pink anyway!!

alicebear · 15/06/2013 21:28

Yes - 3 times. Gd luck!

Cheffie100 · 16/06/2013 01:03

Yes 38 + 2

louisianablue2000 · 16/06/2013 01:18

I never bothered testing to find out when I ovulated, but every time (3dc) despite having accurate dates the 12 week scan put the due date forward by about a week suggesting I conceived early in my cycle. In fact with DD2 we only had sex once that month, on the last day of my period.
