Hi

Im 38+2 and so big i struggle to get out of bed. I'm sore, uncomfortable and could cry.

This is my second baby. I had a sweep at 39 weeks with my first due to the amount of pain I was in. They offered it and i accepted.

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow. If I request a sweep will they give me one?

I was in hospital last weekend with on and off contractions, back pain and sickness.

I guess there's no harm in asking. Explain about the pain you are in etc, you never know she might offer you one or say come back on X day

Are you under a consultant? Many midwives don't as its not in line with the NICE guidelines and I think they have to/ are supposed to stick to these.

Consultants can work outside of these.

I am 38+2 with bad spd, a baby measuring big and in a lot of discomfort. I was turned down yesterday by my consultant as was told it was likely to be painful, not work and set off latent labour for a few weeks instead. Basically it would do more harm than good.

He said at 40 weeks he'll tell me exactly what induction method will work with relatively low risks based on my cervix and history. Apparently it makes a huge difference to how receptive you are.
