Hi, been having contractions since Sunday!! Had sweep yesterday and was told I was 1cm dilated. Sorry for TMI but had lots of gunge stuff come out this morning which had red/brown streaks in it but last few times I have been to the toilet lots of bright red gunge stuff had come out. Is there meant to be this much of the plug and was anyone else's red blood in it? Will ring MW in a bit but as everytime I have a question they call me in to be monitored and hospital is quite far away. Also, contractions have been getting stronger today but still not very regular... It's been since Sunday! Anyone else experienced the first stage going on this long? If I was cm yesterday, should I be anymore today? Thanking you in advance for any responses X

Call the MW and speak to her x

If it helps, mine looked like a GIANT light pink, short cork covered in stringy dark red bits.

Scared the life out of me when I saw it!

Plug is a bit gross - I had a sweep with DS1 on the Fri afternoon and woke up early on the Sat morning with back pain. Went to the loo and voila, bloody show. Had awful bloody spurious labour for 2 days and ended up seeing quite a lot of show everytime I went to the loo on the Saturday. Like you I was surprised by how MUCH there seemed to be.

If you're worried by how much blood you're seeing though, it won't hurt to give the MW a call. Good luck, sounds like it's all kicking off for you!!

Aww thanks for your responses. I called MW and they said as long as the blood was coming out with the gunge stuff (show/plug) then it was ok. It's so difficult the first time to know what's normal or what to expect as its all new. Can't wait for labour to proper kick off and get it out the way!! X

I lost loads of bright red blood with bits of plug. Exciting! Good luck! Grin
