Please advise, we are seven weeks pregnant and went for our first IVF scan, there is a baby, yolk and a flickering heartbeat but they say the baby is small and I'm measuring six days behind. They are sending me for a better scan on Monday as there equipment is quite dated, I'm worried sick, has anyone else been in a similar situation and the result was the news we are all hoping and preying for? Big hugs to you all. Thankyou Jo2578

And Jo, you have done NOTHING to deserve this. It's not your fault. Please try not to think like that. More hugs. x

Jo, my heart is breaking for you. I know the feeling only too well, as I also lost an IVF baby at 9 weeks. It's horrific.

I don't know where you are or if you're doing the IVF on the NHS (I'm in Ireland, so don't really understand the British system), but could you pay to have karyotyping bloods done, to see if there's a genetic issue? For what it's worth, we went to Prague for our IVF and I'm now 32 weeks pregnant. Found them to be so much more advanced over there and they will leave no stone unturned.

For now, though, take this time to grieve the baby you have lost. There is plenty of time to discuss doing another cycle.

Hi jo, sorry to see this, such sad news Sad its completely natural to want to take a little time and recover before jumping into ivf again. But as euro said, there are also positive steps you can take in the meantime like nk testing, blood clotting testing, also thyroid level testing. The pattern won't necessarily recur- you have as much chance of a healthy pregnancy as the next person but it may help your confidence in the pregnancy to cover all bases and get tests completed. Definitely use your clinics counselling service- they have heard it all before and can offer great advice about handling such a sad situation.

If you do decide to cycle again, come and join us in the eggcellent egg buddies. Many of us have experienced loss (myself and euro included) and we are a very very supportive bunch xxxxx

Take care of yourself jo xxx

deffo look into all the testing u could have, and take all your questions to your follow up appointment. they CAN do some tests

I didnt feel the councelling helped- but the lady wanted to see us as a couple and i needed to vent without my partner. I really hope it helps u see thru the fog
