Silly question... shoe size post-pregnancy?

My feet seem to have expanded during pregnancy - I'm now 34 weeks. I have a little bit of ankle swelling but not too bad. My shoe size has gone from a 5 1/2 to what I think is probably more like a 6.

Will my shoe size go down again after I give birth, or will my feet be a bit bigger permanently?

It depends on the cause, because your body produces hormones the allow ligaments to stretch during pregnancy, your feet can stretch out a bit, generally up to 1/2 a size.

If it's swelling caused by water retention or pre eclampsia then probably go down a bit.

Fwiw my feet grew about 1/4 of a size by my estimation.

My feet swelled a lot in my first pregnancy and I have remained (permanently) a size bigger than I was pre pregnancy.

Mine grew and I was convinced they would stay big but they went down about a month pp.

I can't work out what's going on with shoe sizes-I'm now a half or whole size

Mine recently went back to normal after going up half a size. DS is 4 in a couple of months Never thought it would happen!

I'm a half to a whole size smaller than pre two dc-I'm baffled.

MIne grew in my first pregnancy 16 years ago, I went from a size 7 to an 8. My foot size increased after that through weight gain to an 8 1/2-9 but now back to a 'normal' weight and feet still an 8.

Mine are about half a size bigger than they were pre-pregnancy. I can still wear all my old shoes, but some rub more than they did.

Mine got a whole size bigger and stayed that way.

I went from a 5.5 regular to a 6 wide never gone back and has cost a small fortune to buy new and not so nice wide fit shoes!

Mine with dd1 stayed the same . Dd2 went up 1/2 size and stayed there..to my complete and utter disgust as it means shoe shopping is harder now !

Like daisy mine have been bigger since my first pregnancy nearly 9 years ago,even though my weight has been lower since the pregnancy than before it.

My explanation is that everything has headed downwards.....

I went from a 4 normal to a 3.5 wide (so as baffled as you MsPickle) with DS.
30wks atm & my feet seem to be back at a 4, most of the time.

I'm not sure how pairs of new shoes to buy, if any -- saw some nice sandals and shoes on a 3 for 2 offer, and I'd get them but I have no idea what size to go for!

My feet went from a 4and half to a 6 last pregnancy and im now a 5and a half.. so they didn't go back completely.. more than a year on.

It depends on what's causing it. The extra pregnancy weight can cause foot bones to sparse out if that makes sense causing an increased foot size and this is normally a permanent change. Oedema can also cause cause increased size but it normally goes down after birth.

My sister's size went up from a size 7 to an 8 permanently. My friend's went from a 5 to a 6 permanently too. I haven't had any swelling during both my pregnancies and my size has remained the same.

I swelled badly at the end (from a 6 to a 9!) and only went back to a 7 - threw away loads of gorgeous size 6s eventually, when after almost 18 months I finally accepted the inevitable

My feet grew a size during pregnancy, went from a 5 to a 6. Went up to 6.5/7 after dd2 but thankfully back to a 6 again now.

Gutted though, had to get rid of all my lovely shoes

Front of my foot is wider than it was, heels still fall out of all court shoes

My feet have grown half a size in pregnancy, and have yet to go back to normal (dd is 4m). Some of my lovely shoes don't fit now
