Measuring 46-50cm at 38 weeks-anyone with this experience?

Just that really, I had a big baby last time (10lb) but got him out with a home birth. My midwife was shocked at how big I am today (38 +5) and sent me for a consultant appt. The consultant doesn't seem concerned and just said they might offer me a c section in a week. I now don't know whether to feel safe with a home birth or if I need to be induced... (glucose tolerance test came back clear). Anyone else had a baby after measuring this big? My gut instinct is to think that the tape measure test must be arbitary. On the other hand I'm scared about delivering a massive baby and I feel huge and uncomfortable!
Thanks for any thoughts...

I measured 38 weeks at 35 so was sent for a growth scan. The scan suggested I was measuring 42 weeks so I am having a c section. However, I had an emcs with dc2 and he weighed nearly 10lbs so there was a chance I'd have had one anyway ( it was my preference so not sure what they'd have done if I didn't want an elcs)

My SIL measured 58cm with her last baby...her exact words were "off the scale". She had my nephew 10 days late naturally and he was 10lbs8oz and healthy. I remember her being really big and uncomfortable at the end of her pregnancy just like you are feeling. Best wishes for when the time comes.

I measured 45 at 35 weeks pregnant, it was polyhydramnios which I think was caused by a knock I had when I was about 30 weeks.

Had a scan, Ds was a bit bigger but not huge.

Had a natural birth at 40+4, he was 9.7lbs. I wasn't aloud a home or water birth in case something else had caused the excess waters.

I'm in a very similar situation to yours. I'm 37 weeks and have been measuring 4 weeks over since about 30 weeks. Ds was over 9lbs and only 4 days over due date, I measured small with himConfused

I'm under consultant care and again he's not that fussed about my measurements. I'm not getting scanned because consultant doesn't think its necessary as I'm healthy in every other way.

They are leaving me till 40 weeks then on my due date if I haven't already had baby they'll do a sweep. Give me 2 days for it to work on the 3rd day I will most likely be induced.

Midwife has told me this is standard procedure for my consultant. Nobody has mentioned a c section.

I'm very uncomfortable, in alot of pain and the not knowing isn't easy. The nearer I get to my due date the more anxious I feel but I think that's normal.
