Hey ladies I'm a bit of a lurker here but I started a thread in chat tonight then found here maybe more sensible! Been very ill weak faint etc, got admitted today with what they say is bad uti/kidney inf, hav drip and antibiotics started , just been so ill and now am terrified something will happen to baby, had two very bog standard preg and deliveries prior to this preg and this has just been scarey and yuk so far, was very nauseous but now don't know if that was just the uti or morn sick and they won't scan me yet as no bleeding but am getting crampy now so may call nurse in a bit and see what they say, they just don't seem worried re the preg so I guess that should reassure me but I've never felt so ill, apparently a bad uti can make you feel awful as I have but am paranoid that it isn't uti and its something else even tho the urine test def showed bugs in urine,
Sorry turning into a waffle is just am still nervous don't know how will sleep tonight in hosp as hubby away work and my mum is having to stay in house with my two dc's, they are 5 and 3 so although love gran will be missing me and I've been a rubbish poorly mum this week and now stuck in hosp just waking to feel normal again, i know other ladies on here have greater probs but I really do feel dire and a bit panicky if am honest x

Hi,
Poor you! Sounds like you're having a rough time. Hope the cramps are down to the UTI & nothing more sinister.
When does your DH get home? Feel :-( that you are there alone x

Utis make you feel absolutely horrible, like you have the flu without a fever, I had one early on and I'm sure it sent me a bit loopy! Hospitals are the worst place to try and sleep I've been in and out through my pregnancy, get well soon. X

Ah thanks guys lovely posts cheered me up, just been given more meds so hoping for a few hours rest till next lot, drip still going but don't know if that's helping really, I guess must be. Yes indeed uti is like bad flu, just comes over me in waves of sick and weakness and faint feeling, even tho lying down! Am in own room so I have door open so I can hear the comings and goings and they can see me! Still watching tv, expect will have to keep it on most of nite , thanks again lovely msgs

Aww, its not very nice that your husband's away :-( I lean on my fella for everything! Poor fella, at least u get a private room, I had to pay £20 for 2 days worth of tele which is ridiculous but if u don't have tv time just stands still! Hope u get some sleep.

UTI's are horrible. During my first pregnancy I had them all through the first trimmester. I was in excruciating pain, but was never admitted to hospital. Nothing seemed to shift it either and they tried numerous antibiotics, then as if by magic when I hit 2nd trimmester it disappeared, had no implications on the baby thank goodness. I sympathise with how terrible you feel, hope you feel better soon and that you keep better for the rest of your pregnancy.

MummyTheresAfireBeeOnYourHead · 02/06/2013 00:51

Sounds awful lilstar, am def waiting for things to get better in second trimester, still can't sleep in hosp! Won't until I know the meds are working I don't think, thanks for support mn

so sorry to hear you're going through this.

i've had awful UTI's for about 8 weeks duringthis pregnancy (21+5). have been on a constant stream of antibiotics and they've been triggering braxton hicks too which is pretty scary.

then all the antiobitoics gave me galloping thrush, what a treat!

they do seem to have calmed down a bit recently, fingers crossed yours clear up quickly.

Thanks again all you lovely mnetters, I got out of hosp yesterday eve and finally feel a bit less wobbly on my legs and temp settled, tablets working I think, have to keep lying down , thank god fam staying to help with childcare and school run, housework, shopping, I basically haven't been able to do anything of it and still can't, am a terrible patient, I hate resting but have no choice! I didn't realise how serious these things can be, apparently the case regardless of pregnancy or not. Thanks again x
