Sharing maternity leave with DH - any experiences?

Also put this in chat, hoping for more traffic, but I think it'll disappear from there very quickly!
DS2 is due in August. As I'm the main wage earner, we can only really afford for me to take the 18 wks of reasonably paid ML, before it drops to just SMP.
DH earns a lot less than I do, so he's taking the rest of the 'SMP' paid ML, from Jan to April.
As I understand it, fathers may only begin their share of ML from when baby is 20wks old - depending on whether or not DS2 arrives on time, DH will probably have to take a week or so's holiday to take him up to this point. In addition, I'm a teacher so will officially return to work at the end of the Autumn term ie about 20th Dec.
Therefore, there will be a break of approximately 3 weeks between me claiming maternity pay and DH starting to claim it. Will this be a problem?
Any thoughts/experiences welcome - thank you in advance!
