What was your "show" like?

I have had a change in discharge this week, and wondered it if could be a show. on wiping i have noticed a few blobs of clear gel like stuff. Not anything i have normally had, it was thicker, more like jelly than my normal discharge. I am 37 wks and just wondered if anyone has this, could it my mucus plug? There is no blood on it, just clear.

what's the longest anyone had to wait to go into labour after having their show?

diddle · 05/06/2006 13:55

i had a small one about a week ago, and its never amounted to anything.

I had a show at 36 weeks and went into labour a week later. It was like clear jelly and there was a bit of blood in it. LOVELY!!!

i'm not sure. does it have to have blood in it to be a show? iv been having really bad diarrhoea (sorry!!) so had resorted to squatting in the bath and disenfecting it after as it was easier than sitting on the loo. anyway when i went to rinse everything away i noticed a creamy slightly green big lump of what looked like thick discharge. i thought discharge doesn't just fall out of you like that so it might be a show. but then i thought a show had to have blood in so i'm a bit lost!!diddle i know people who haven't had their babies til 2 weeks after their show so don't worry.

mummytotoby - sounds like a show to me, it doesn't have to have blood on it.

i thought it was supposed to be more clear and jelly like though than what i had.

Er, hi sorry to hijack this thread!

im 33 weeks and i think i might have had my show, it was like jelly but clear.
Does it mean you are near to labour?
Am having stomach pains for a week or so.

jersey · 07/06/2006 08:18

Kosha I had something similiar at 29 weeks and the hospital thought it was as I had also had contractions/period pains. But, as I wasn't leaking fluid and wasn't conracting at the time they where not concerned. It might be worth checking with your midwife or hospital as to whether they want to check you for these.

MummytoToby when I had my show with my first there wasn't blood in it! I have lost some of my plug already this time and there wasn't blood in it then either.

Just to make sure....

Does having a 'show' mean that labour is soon?

Chloe55 · 07/06/2006 11:14

I think you can have a show anywhere up to a couple of weeks before you give birth. Mine was the day before though.

MummyToToby · 07/06/2006 16:31

mine wasn't clear though. it was the creamy colour of discharge but big lumps of it. SORRY once more!!

MummyToToby · 07/06/2006 16:34

jersey - how far gone are you now?

jersey · 08/06/2006 09:35

MTT - I am 34 weeks tomorrow.
