Are you planning your nursery?

I am getting excited now.. we have picked a colour. Stepping Stone by Crown. It's a blue shade. We don't know the sex but I like blue anyway. I have already neutral curtains and shade so don't need to buy them. DH is putting in a cream blackout blind and dimmer at the weekend.

I saw a gorgeous idea online for silver letters spelling Nursery. We bought a cream and oak chest of drawers. I also have vintage style bunting. I have a Cath Kidson throw that I will use as a playmat etc. It is the same type of shade as the walls with polka dots on one side and roses on the other so glad to be getting use out of it.

Never usually have spare cash .. must be the lack of bought in this house.

What ideas do you have?

My DC had the idea tat they wouldn't go near there nurseries until they were 14 months. So, so glad we hadn't bothered to spend much on it before.

I do like Cath Kidson and hope to buy a few items from there myself.

We're going to have to re-jig the rooms in our house as we've got a 3 bed and are expecting #3. Front room is going to be our new bedroom and the box bedroom, currently my DS bedroom, will be the nursery. I can't wait to get started on it after the 12 week scan as DD & DS don't know we're expecting yet and I'm also too scared to buy or look at anything until after 12 weeks either.

1. De-clutter the room this weekend! Then cream / warm white walls, blue carpet (already there), existing blinds + baby curtains from Mothercare and a wall decoration + wall letter stickers. Other than that we've got a second hand Stokke changing table and won't be getting a cot for the first few months until baby grows out of a moses basket we're borrowing from friends. Need to do something about lighting, but might go for a matching lampshade from MC or make one.

Thought we might buy a cot and a changing mat. No other plans so far... am I weird?

Sounds lovely. Best tip is to allow room to suit a baby/ toddler/ child without changing much.

Ie your blue/ cream sounds lovely, and can change accessories as they grow. If you had lullaby baby's and baby chickens painted on wall a 5 year old might not be too pleased!

Our is going green walls with green/blue/white blackout curtains my mum is making. We have some bright and colourful winnie the pooh prints for the wall, other than that, a normal chest of drawers, wardrobe and cot. Along with some other boxes/storage yet to be decide on.

This is all still in my head, other than the paint swatches on the wall and the pictures in the box. DH starts the painting this weekend if he can get out of bed on saturday in time to do it

I was told the nursery is all about you for the first year anyway as the baby doesn't care as long as its functional and warm.

We had one polka dot pink wall, and three cream walls with textured paper... 3D butterfly 'stickers' all over the room, resting on the curtain pole,on the ceiling rose, on the walls (all in pinks, lilacs and green) and fabric flowers that we wound round the cot sides and a lamp and the toy box handles.

Fabric bunting in green, pink, lilac and polka dots of these colours on two walls.

Changing table, chest of drawers, bookcase, cot, toy box and peg shelf all in white shaker style...

Curtains, cot set & light shade in polka dot green with pink ribbons woven through...

Hat boxes and money box, (in the pink, green & flower patterns & colours) money box and white wicker baskets on all the shelves holding loads of bunnies and teddy bears..

A vase of all different jewelled fairy wands standing up on the corner & a rocking baby pink elephant..

My mum is an interior decorator and she surprised me with it for DD1 after I'd been away for the weekend.

Now expecting DD2 and gutted that we're moving when I'm 9 months pg and won't have time to get a room ready before she's born.

Oh, and those fabric letters from mamas and papas spelling out DD's name :)

We didn't do a nursery. We did a big girls bedroom for our twin girls. We started decorating it when they were 5 months old and we moved them in at just over 6 months. It has a book case & reading area, space to play etc. I am glad we didn't go for a nursery, the way we decorated their bedroom will be suitable for them until they are around 6(ish).

We are doing up a dump of a house, and it has so much brick dust that my poor toddler looks like he lives in a cardboard box or something, I'm so ashamed....so my efforts for my new baby will be builders out and clean carpets - very low level I'm afraid :( Am very jealous of your nice ideas!
