I don't know where abouts you are, but we're national trust members and their properties are excellent if your pg. I think because a lot of elderly people are members, theres lots of nice loos and lots of places to sit. They also have good cafe's, and it keeps the kids entertained (all of the ones we've been to recently have had quizes to do).

Family friendly museums...we took dh's kids to the MOSI in Manchester

National.Trust or English Heritage properties

Zoo or animal park as long as you don't touch or feed certain animals

Swimming pool with ladies if kids are big enough to go on them alone or take friends to go on with them?

thanks really need to make some nice plans to help the time go faster
we havet been to zoo for ages and i fancy that

theres not many decent museums here and i can't really be bothered to go to london atm

will look into national trust for ideas
