Suddenly feeling scared - 38 weeks on Wednesday - just had some tragic news

Another lady who was due to give birth a month before me has apparently lost her baby. I heard the news through mutual friends - our daughter's both go to the same dancing school. Obviously I have no idea what happened. It was her fourth DD. I'm having DD2 on 8 May, scheduled csection for 40 weeks. I don't know her well but I do know that we both had unexplained bleeds at around the same time - I was 30 weeks pg and she was 34 weeks. I've had a CVS and at least 6 scans this pregnancy and baby appears to be fine - but still suddenly aware how precious/precarious this baby making is.

Saying all that baby is making herself known - after a very sugar-y hot drink (decaf soya mocha)!

I have been like that throughout my pregnancy (35 weeks now). Everytime I reach a week I see as a milestone, I hear another horror story. When I was 26 weeks, our friends sister in law lost her baby at 27 weeks and tat terrified me. Got through that ok then found out a friend lost their baby at 38 weeks (was over 10 years ago though). Like you, I constantly worry about it. I can't really give advise you but I know how you feel and now, the closer to the end I get, the more I worry. This is my first and I've heard so many horror stories along the way. I guess we just need to stay positive and could discuss it with the MW if it keeps on getting to us! Hi careerGirl, your not alone, i have set myself goals to reach throughout this Pregnancy, and have found it hard to see beyound them, each time i reach one there seems to be a minefield to cross before the next 'safety stop' (12, 20, 26, done 32 is next)
Your 38 weeks...... you've crossed many minefields.... your so nearly there.... hang on to happy thoughts. I'm sure all will be OK!. have read many of your posts and you seem to be a strong woman. please let me know when careerbaby arrives

It is scary

So many emotions, happiness, excited, hopeful
And also nerves, fear, apprehension, panic

And it happens to only you
You have to desk with the pains and emotions
Can be very lonley

Is it any wonder pregnant ladies are more emotional!!

I am with you, after 3 losses at various stages prior to this pregnancy (34 weeks now) and for unexplained reasons I keep being convinced something is going to go wrong or my baby will have some significant health issue on birth which hasn't been picked up on scans.
This is my second 'healthy pregnancy, with the 3 losses inbetween. With DC1 I didn't worry about any of this, I just assumed it would all be ok. Oh how a little experience and a little knowledge can change your perspective!
I am also lucky that this little one is a very active baby so whenever I worry he kicks away reassuringly as if to say it's ok mummy I'm still here!

Thanks Rosie I'm going to be seeing the lady tomorrow. Hoping her seeing me with bump and about to pop will not be too traumatic for her! I haven't taken anything for granted this pregnancy - I had a bleed at 30 weeks, a CVS at 13 weeks after blood tests showed potential problems, that and my DH having a breakdown! Here's hoping things are safe and well for all of us!

I know how you feel, mind you it will be worse for the other lady, I hope she is ok
