is it possible for a placenta to not working properly then work fine

ive been having growth scans as they were worried i was measuring small for dates turns out the person who had scanned my baby had under measured as on my 31 weeks and 5 days scan baby was good just low fluid levels of 8.7cm the prevous week i had a doppler scan where the person said it looks like the blood flow from the placenta was looking like it was starting to fail when i had my 31 week and 5 day scan the person said the blood flow was good still and cant understand why i was told it wasnt has anyone any ideas on if this is possible for one week blood flow to be poor then the week after back to been good im also having twice weekly ctgs to monitor heart rate and babys movements they are all fine too

I had all this. The "improved" scan was a blip. Placental function did tail off. By the time I was 35 weeks I was having 3 scans a week. Had emergency CS as 35+5 as fluid was down to 0! Baby was Ok size for dates, spent a week in NICU due to respiratory distress as birth (due to CS), no suck reflex and concerns about gut perfusion. Now 4 months and 100% totally OK.

ah fingers crossed the first guy got it wrong as he did say she was moving around and that made it harder for him to get a proper result did your ctgs show anything wrong with the babys heart rate i trust the last person who did the scan as he was the highest sonographer all the midwifes said the same that he was the best there was in my hospital

CTG never gave any indication of a problem. I had some scans with regular obstetric sonographers, but the last 4 or so with a foetal medicine consultant. Please keep an eye on your baby's movements. In my first pregnancy it was loss of movement that alerted us to the problem. In this last pregnancy movement slowed significantly the day before my final scan (35+1). 2nd baby was a CS, partly because I'd had a previous one so could not be induced. I had already been told at about 32 weeks that in the unlikely event I went into labour I was to have an EMCS as the baby would not cope well with labour.
