I'm 11 weeks today this is my second pregnancy. Everything was going well until 7 days ago when I was struck down with sciatica for a disc problem it's never happened me before. I've been on my front all week in agony im on strong codeine tryed to not take dimazapan but had to. I can't see an end to this pain, I have a toddler to look after and my husband has Beenn brilliant but he needs to go back to work. We have no family near I feel like him and my daughter would be better Off without meAnd that I'm causing my unborn baby harm every day by medication. I'm in agony. Physically and emotionally.

You are not a bad person, you are in a difficult position. Have you discussed pain meds and pg with your GP?

Could you buy in some childcare to help out with DD, or could you go and stay with any family who could help you out? Sounds awful for you, you have my sympathy. I hope you are feeling better soon. Be kind to yourself.

Hello sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I'm sorry to say, but diazepam is on the banned list of drugs for pregnancy as it can cause heart defects. I know you are in pain, but surely the doctor can give something else? Please don't take any more diazepam it is really not safe for bubs x

I've got chronic pain (I need an operation but can't have it while I'm pregnant). I've gone from taking 30mg codiene 4 x day with paracetamol to cutting it virtually out (I'm just considering taking a 15mg codiene now, none yet!). How? Acupuncture. It's made a big difference to me. I had 6 sessions. Definitely consider it.

Also talk to your doctors about alternatives. Tramadol can be taken in pregnancy and might be more effective for you. Don't struggle alone.

I don't think you should suffer and be in pain but given the known dangers of the drugs you are taking should make you want to go see the doctor ASAP to find an alternative as the worry is just making you feel worse.
