help, very sore throat only 8 weeks pg, nasty cough

Gargle with warm salt water, drink hot water with lemon juice and spoon of honey, Hope you feel better soon.

If still can't swallow,see GP( or OOH GP as weekend).If tonsillitis may need penicillin which is safe in pregnancy

I had a horrible cough at about 6 weeks so I rang my Dr's and she prescribed me antibiotics, amoxicillin, which cleared it right up. I didn't even have to go into the surgery. It's definitely worth phoning them to ask.

Poor you - I've had similar over the last week - a flu bug with agonising sore throat (pain wasn't much less than my 2 nights of labour)

I'm in a slightly different position in that I am longer pregnant (DD is 8 weeks old) but am still restricted in what I can take due to breastfeeding.

I sent DP off to the pharmacy and they were useless and said I couldn't take anything other than paracetamol! I then saw my GP who spent some time talking me through some painkillers I could take.

If you can't bear the pain, then do go and see your GP for advice. Hope you're better soon.
