Morning sickness-is it here to stay?

Afternoon folks,
I'm 6 weeks pg with DC2-last time I had no morning sickness....this time I feel like I've been hit by a truck! It's just nausea at this stage but I've been struggling to prepare food for DS, to entertain him, take him out to places and I've barely eaten anything more than toast for the past 24 hours...so my question is, can mornj g sickness linger for a few weeks or is it likely to stay for (at least) the entire first trimester? I'm just wondering as if its the 2nd I'm going to need to make alternative arrangements for DS....Hmm

Mine hit around 5 weeks, has mostly gone now at 10 weeks (didn't suffer at all last pregnancy) but I've only been sick 3 times, it's mainly been nausea.

If it helps, I found that a slice of jam on toast made by DH so I didn't have to smell it toasting, really took the edge off. As long as I didn't let my tummy get empty I could cope although at first it felt horrendous!!

Mine hit at 5 wks and was going by week 19ish. It probably won't last forever - hang on in there! same as rockchick1984 I found never letting my stomach to empty really helped - I grazed all day long.

Go not to

I think it can go at 10-12 weeks, or not. It is not something anyone has a definitive answer about I'm afraid.

But if you find yourself getting worse and being unable to eat or drink anything, then consider that you might have Hyperemesis Gravidarum - it's what the duchess had (may still have but is hiding incredibly well?). That can also get better at a similar rate, or it can hang on, but it might mean that you can become dehydrated and need to take anti sickness drugs.

I don't want to scare you, just let you know that it might be a possibility. Some doctors have a blind spot where HG is concerned and don't want to believe it exists.

Find our thread on here if you want to find a bit more about HG and get some support from ladies that are going through it or have done in the past.

I'm in the same boat as you. The two viable pregnancies I've had in the past I had no morning sickness and very easy symptom free first trimesters. This time I'm very nauseous and vomiting almost every morning and just feel crap. Even quick movements whilst I'm feeling particularly nauseous is causing me to vomit. I'm 7wk 1d so really hope this finishes soon. I have a wedding coming up in April and I'll be 10 weeks so need to feel better by then.

Hmm I think maybe I let my stomach get too empty yesterday then...it's just hard to eat something when you feel so nauseous. I guess ill just have to force myself and see if it makes it better. I don't think its as serious as HG as I'm able to keep food down, I just really don't feel like eating it but can force myself.
Thanks for all the replies...fingers crossed its not here for too long! Hmm
