Hi there,
Not sure if I'm posting in the right area but have just moved to London and am in desperate need of advice!
Living in the wandsworth area, haven't registered with a gp yet, but just discovered I'm about 4 weeks pregnant so would like to do so ASAP... However, does anyone recommend a good gp in the area? Or a practice with a good midwife team? It feels like a needle in a hay stack so would really appreciate hearing first hand experiences..
Also with regards to hospitals for birthing, anybody have experience of queen charlottes? After some research this seems to have pretty good reviews. My last 2 labours have unfortunately been horrific ordeals and am very eager to make sure I'm in a good hospital... I don't want to be left alone or told to go home mid labour. My body doesn't labour well :(

Anybody's advice would be most welcome.
Xx

Hi Buzz, congratulations! I'm in Wandsworth and go to Wandsworth Medical Centre on Garratt Lane. It's just a normal GP's surgery, but am quite happy with them. Am 19 weeks pg and being cared for by the Emerald team of community midwives. I'm low risk so not had to see them much yet, but no issues so far. Planning to give birth at St George's in Tooting, which is one of the country's leading teaching hospitals. Not sure if that means I'll have a crowd of students in for the birth, but it has pretty good reviews!

Not sure if that's any help as not actually been through much yet, but it's a start! Good luck.

Ah thanks Louise! I've been past there a few times actually, I'll pop in on Monday. Thank you! Will also look up st George's.. London hospitals just seem so much busier than those outside the city! Cannot imagine being told to go home in established labour... The thought terrifies me!
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and wishing you a beautiful birth! It's all very exciting!!

Xx

Hi Buzz - congrats!! I used to live in Wandsworth before I moved to germany and I can also recommend Garratt Lane, you can always call in the morning for an emergency there, and you can also always get a doctor to call you back if you have a phone query - superb. It also has a dentists upstairs which are good and do NHS (i.e. what can be covered under NHS they will bill to them, and what is private you pay for etc), and a pharmacy downstairs. Oh and for hair - you want style lounge on the Highstreet. xx
