Thanks everyone.
So was up all night monday contractions fizzled out during the day on tuesday. They started back up again quite regularly about 5pm Tuesday (10 minutes after dp had left for work!) I worked out that sitting down was slowing them down so avoided as much as possible. Put dd1 to bed and they were around every 5 minutes rang maternity ward and they said to ring when I was having three in 10 minutes. Rang them an hour later 9pm ish and said to go in.
Examination when I arrived found me to be 5cm dialated alredy. I was surprised as I had convinced myself I was going to be told I wasn't far enough along. Then I basically stayed active and moving around. I got in and out of the pool (pool seemed to slow things down but was great for taking the pressure of my hips/back/legs.) Used the birthing ball on my knees occasionally sat on the chair.
At 7cm started with gas and air still active and moving but resting on the bed/chair a little more and in the pool again. Got to 9cm and MW had to break the waters for me. We then had shift change for mw and even though first one was great. Had a fab student mw and another fab one. Told me to do what my body was telling me which was to start pushing. Dd was born quite quickly though her shoulders were stuck but MW managed to sort it.
Then I had retained placenta mw managed to get half out, consultant turned up managed to get some more, but not all ended up having to go to theatre and spinal block I was terrified. During theatre they found I have a heart shaped womb, which was the cause of the retained placenta. Then has some problems with my temprature, so had tonnes of tests done to test for Infections etc.
Finally got the okay to go up to the ward. Yesterday evening. Dd is feeding great, and I actually feel better than after I had her which was a less traumatic birth by far.
Good luck for whoever is next!
