Worrying NT and blood results

Hello, I'm posting here because I'm so worried and hoping that someone can assure me of similar results and has all been ok.
I am 26 years old and this is my first pregnancy.
I had my NT test at 13 weeks and it turned out to be 3.3mm, which I already knew was not great but I did my blood tests at the same time. A week later I had a phone call to tell me that all the results combined leave me at a risk of 1 in 21 for Down syndrome. I didn't know enough about my blood results to ask but the doctor said that my Papp-a was slightly low with hcg slightly higher which is why I had the high risk.
Today I had the CVS done, because I couldn't go through a pregnancy not worrying and it means that I may have to go to a different hospital if I am at high risk during labour etc.
I am just so so worried about my results, I just want everything to be ok for my baby. All I have been reading about is the low Papp-a and high hcg but not many people also have abnormal NT.

Hi Joanna
Sorry you're going through this. I had similar experience nt was 3.9 and combined with bloods had a risk of 1:12. They were unable to do cvs due to position of placenta, I had an amnio. All was clear, followed by detailed cardiac scans and again clear. I'm now 27 weeks with what is considered a healthy pregnancy. I know how scary it is but don't google, it will make you feel worse. I know there's nothing I can say to make you feel better, but you're not alone.

Hi there,
It's such a worrying time isn't it. I went through a similar thing a couple of months ago, and although my advanced age affected my results, my blood tests were weird too.

Like you, I had the CVS as I just needed to know for sure. Hopefully they won't take long to get the results to you and I really hope that everything is fine. But until you get the results, there's nothing you can do, just rest and try not to worry-impossible I know, but until you know exactly what you are dealing with, there's not much else you can do.

Oh and try not to google! I did this and just ended up reading lots of other stories- some good, some bad, but this is about you and your baby.

take care of yourself in the next few days x

Thank you for your words, I think I am going to rest as much as I can and make use of my other half! It is such a worrying time and as you both say its worse to google so I think I may avoid. It's very comforting to hear people have been through the same so thank you :)

Jo
