Mild menstrual cramps in second trimester - normal?

I'm 18 weeks today and have been getting some period-type cramping down low in my abdomen. Is this likely to be normal stretching and growing or something I should call the midwife about? Since I understand my uterus is now up to within a few cm of my naval, I'm nervous that all this cramping is very low - just at bikini line level.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I had this with both pregnancies, it's ligament pain where everything is stretching. It did make me worry the first time it happened as I didn't know to expect it

Thanks SBH - I'm sure I'm overly anxious (have had two early m/c, so the first time I've gotten this far) but it is, as you say, worrying when you don't know what to expect.

Did call the MW support number in my notes but the reply was 'I don't know, it could be normal and it could not be. If you were miscarrying it would get a lot worse, in which case go to hospital'. Not the most reassuring, really. Wanted to hear 'this is very common, it's down to stretching', etc. Hmm
