How does MW check size of uterus?!

I've got my 25 week appointment today. I've just checked the notes and it says that the MW will "check the size of your uterus". How is this done? Tape measure? Guesstimate? Internal exam? Confused

Tape measure :) midwife will palpitate to feel the top if your uterus and measure from there to your pubic bone. Funnily enough it correlates with how many weeks you are pregnant :)

Hands on the outside of your bump +/- a tape measure. They measure from the top of your pubic bone to the top of your bump so wear something you can wiggle down to around your hips.

I have my maternity skinny jeans on today - they roll down nicely. Thanks for the advice MerryMinge :)
