Hi

I am pregnant with dc2. I think it would be fair to say with dd I was totally disorganised and out of my depth but not sure what to do differently this time.

With dd I had approx 25 short sleeve suits. I didn't get any normal baby grows till about a week in. Dd was in hospital in short sleeve suit (no trousers) left hospital in same, went on visits in same. Now I know it's totally inappropriate (although was August). But am really worried about the new one overheating.

What should I take for them to wear in hospital? What should I get to take them home in? What should they wear when we are out and about for first few weeks?

Can't believe dd is 2.6 when I can't even work out the basics??!?

Tia!

When are you due?In the first few weeks mine wore a vest,a long sleeved sleepsuit and a jacket/cardigan over the top and a hat when they went out.One of mine was a summer baby ,the other Easter. When it got hot they took a layer off.The general advice is 1 more layer than you wear I think.

Sorry, this one due in August as well! Blimey I was disorganised!

Fair enough. Is this in addition to the blankets which will be over her in car seat?

I must say I don't really see the problem -- hospitals are always boiling and presumably your house won't be chilly either given that LO is due in August? As my DH pointed out the 'one more layer than you' advice isn't very useful when some people happily wear shorts in the winter and others (like me) are always freezing. Our DD seems to take after DH and was quite warm in short sleeve suit and socks, indoors with the heating on.

I cringe now looking back at photos of DS as a newborn - he was always in vests and not much else!, but he was born in a 30 degree heatwave so that was why. I guess at thisntime of year I can't imagine it ever being hot again.
