Non-traditional baby shower ideas

I've been given the task of planning my best pals baby shower (I appreciate this seems an american concept and some people find it silly but my friend has done so much for me and i'd really like to do this for her).

The problem is that she is not a traditional pregnant lady - sitting around talking about babies/giving birth/pregnancy is totally not her thing, nor is pin the sperm on the egg/estimate string round mum etc - AT ALL.

So I wanted to do something different - anyone have any ideas? Slightly off the wall for a non-traditional mum to be.

Thanks in advance x

What about just a lovely lunch with you and her other girlfriends?

I'd go for something fun and for her, rather than something twee and baby tastic.

It might be a bit woo, but google 'blessingway', it's also known as a mother blessing, lots of alternative ideas.

My friend is Indian and for her baby shower, along with all the twee stuff, she had a member of her family do Henna for all the guests, as well as decorating her Bump, apparently a tradition in her culture. It was gorgeous and different and everyone really loved it! She's now offered to do mine :) and I'm very excited!!

Nice lunch or tea party (which is actually more traditional than tacky games)

You'll have to call it a shower though if the intention is for her to be "showered with gifts".

If you just want a last blast before the baby is here, then call it that and do whatever style of party she'd like for any other occasion.

I had one 3 years ago and we had it for men and women as I didn't want it to be a just women thing considering its nice to include other halfs!
The men had a good laugh getting into full comp drinking juice from a babies bottle and the quickest nappy changer on some dolls!
Slightly tacky but good fun!!!!
We did word searches and word jumble in teams!
I also didn't get gifts but gift cards to buy what I needed as and when!!!
Thought doing a gift wish list was not me!!!! As not everyone can afford to be so lavish!! And being put on the spot while gifts are opened us not nice!
Good luck - loads of ideas on line!
