Hi!!!
I am a contractor and currently looking for a new role. I am 6 weeks pg and think a six month contract is all I can manage before the baby comes.

I have had a very positive interview ( office work in canary wharf) but wonder if to tell them am pregnant. I am physically able and job is not physical but can't get over this guilty feeling of starting a new job, then in a couple of months they notice my bump Blush. Anyone else in this state or any ideas, I mean, am pregnant not sick......

Hi,

I was let go from my probationary period 3 weeks ago when they found out i was pregnant. (I'm 16 weeks now.) I'm not suprised they let me go as i had only been there 4 months and i would have been off at the busiest time of year.
I have a second interview on friday for an agency contract till end of june. (baby due in 23rd July.) I havent told them i'm pregnant yet. I need the Job! My understanding of the Law is that you can not be refused employment on the grounds being pregnant. It's a very easy no stress office job and i don't see why being pregnant would stop me doing it (as long as i stay as well as i feel now)
concider agency work, it's on your terms and you can work as much or as little as you need /want too.

Good Luck and congrats.

If you are a contractor then don't worry about it, you can leave after the 6 months for whatever reason you want.

You don't HAVE to tell them legally until about 5 months or something anyway, so I wouldn't until I was in the job. My friend recently had a job offer declined for 'other reasons' after being honest with them that she was pregnant. It is discrimination but she can't prove it because they made up other reasons so look after yourself first.

As the six month contract would be up before the baby is due, the only time you would be taking off is for ante natal appointments. Given that, I don't see that it would make a big difference to the company so wouldn't tell them until you start - you're not being false about your availability (you should be able to see out your six months).

I found out I was PG 2 days before I started my new job so I told then on my first day and its been fine.

I'm now 35 Weeks, have taken about 2 Weeks in total days off due to pregnancy issues and I'm due to start my maternity leave on the 15th. My probation period is due to finish in March but they said even if they wanted to it is illegal to release someone because of pregnancy.
