Gym Balls as due date gets closer...

This may sound a bit daft but I bought a gym ball from John Lewis after hearing they may be good for pelvic floor and during labour - I also use one in weekly antenatal classes..

Anyway, got it home and realised after inflating that it's half the size of the hospital ones and had read that my knees should be below my hips when I sit on it - instead they are pretty much in line.

Do you think it will be of any benefit at all if it's too small a gym ball or worse, work in the wrong way to help me? I've stupidly thrown receipt away now but just didn't realise they came in two sizes!!

Just worried if pelvic floor is at wrong level then me bouncing, swaying hips etc may make things worse?!...

Are you sure you pumped it up fully? Does it have a size (in cm) on it? My birthing ball felt inflated even when it was still quite small and it took ages to get up to full size (65cm)

Yeah it's deffo pumped up fully and had my Pilates class this week and spotted a ball my size (no one was using!) and then all the others were definitely a lot bigger - plus I find the ones in class harder to sit and balance on (am only 5 foot 1) and one at home is much easier - which I think means I'm not working my core muscles and pelvic floor properly as I don't have to work to stay on the ball at home, I just plonk myself on it!! Wink

Just worry the small one is being counter-productive in some way by not working pelvic floor at all!..?

What size is it? I'd have thought at 5'1" you would be better with the smaller size, I'm 5'6" and was borderline between 2 sizes!
