So I am just going on 6 wks pregnant and have a team work night out tonight to celebrate the closing of a deal. I found out v early that I'm pregnant (before AF even due!). For my first pregnancy I didn't even know by now. Anyway have work night out and even though I've told them i being healthy and having a "dry January" - there will be a lot of pressure on to have at least one or two drinks with dinner.... What do you think? One bottle of beer or one glass of wine ok? As I said, for my first pregnancy I didn't know I was til 7 weeks and was definitely having a couple of drinks every week...

Thing is I reeeeaaallly don't want to cast any suspicions on me as my review is in 2 weeks and they are such bastards they'd give me no pay rise (if one is even coming) if they new I am pregnant again and money is tight at the mo as dp unemployed for past year!!!!

Wwyd? Thanks Smile

A couple of white wine spritzers? Drunk very slowly. Or designated driver?

And congratulations :)

If you want to have a drink then that's one thing but don't just have one because people will pressure you into it!

Tell then you are participating in the January Dryathlon and that should be it.

Congratulations :)

In my first pregnancy I developed a really good skill of ordering a white wine spritzer first, then subtly tipping it away (in the toilets or the nearest flower pot!) and then making sure I went to the bar myself and always ordered lemonade (which looked like the spritzer anyway!)

Congratulations! I had this predicament too and I have to admit that I just ordered a spritzer and nursed it for hours! No one seemed to notice (or at least no one said anything!) I did make sure i went to the bar alone though. I just knew that going for a soft drink would create too many questions and I was too anxious/guilty to be able to lie convincingly! Looking back I would like not to have felt pressured into buying a drink that I didn't want, but some groups of people have a way of pressuring you don't they? It would only have taken one mouthy colleague to start joking that I might be pregnant for it to have been written all over my face! That was the last thing I needed at the time.

(Definitely drank a few times in early days before i found out I was pg too. V common though I gather!)
