Telling people when you have another child.

I'd really like to tell my parents and in laws but I'm just 5 weeks and we have a 2 year old. I couldn't trust him to keep a secret so we either do it in code or leave it I guess. What did you do? I wouldn't want him telling other people outside of the family.

I think DS would. And even if he didn't he'd repeat it, he will talk about things over and over so I think everyone would know before long.

Don't talk about it in front of him. My three year old had no clue until I told him at around 30'weeks.

My DS Was 2 in November and I am 29 weeks pregnant with DC2. We didn't really talk about the baby in front of DS until I was about 25 weeks. We told both sets of parents together one evening once DS was in bed - think I was about 8 weeks. We didn't want to talk to DS about it till late partly because 9 months is such massive amount of time for a child that young and it seemed unreasonable to tell him and then make him wait ages to see the baby. I've had a couple of MCs in the past so wouldn't want to have to take it all back it explain that to him if it happened again. Also we wouldn't expect him to keep a secret.

We started talking about it after Christmas. We bought him a couple of books about having a new baby and that has worked really well. He has been convinced he is having a sister and we recently found out that he is right! He seems to understand that there is a baby in my tummy. Not sure he's grasped that it's going to come out and come and live with us!

No, most knew I hadn't told him. And if they didn't know, I would tell them.
