Anyone else? I'm driving myself nutty it's something awful - GP says not.

Had it, told was normal, pissed me off for a week, gone now. I shoved a hot water bottle on it.

Lora1982 · 04/01/2013 23:15

Yeah i had one it went pretty quickly though after scaring the life out of me

Mylittlepuds · 04/01/2013 23:22

Mine's been there about a month :-( so scared. Getting an ultrasound after insisting to pretty annoyed GP. Keep touching it...

I had it towards the end with my second pregnancy and it appeared straight away again with my current pregnancy. My gynaecologist checked it and said it's fine...

MahnaMahna · 05/01/2013 07:31

I had it too, my GP and MW said it might have been to do with the milk my body was producing. When DD was born I had to massage the lump whilst feeding her. It went after about a week xx

worsestershiresauce · 05/01/2013 08:25

I had this once not in pregnancy, and it was a swollen lymph node. It was caused by a tiny infected cut on my finger, so didn't need any treatment and went away by itself. Do you have any cuts on your hands or arms?

Mylittlepuds · 05/01/2013 09:05

No cuts :-( I'm just thinking the worst as always. I don't know if it's my hormones but it's all I can think about.

Kept getting lumps under arms After DD 1 was born (she's nearly 4). Turned out I had an infected impacted wisdom tooth. Soon as it was removed they went away. GP said it was immune system and a sign my body was fighting an infection?

Lora1982 · 05/01/2013 22:29

Ooh ive got a dodgy wisdom tooth careergirl, thats perhaps what caused mine. Ive had antibiotics for the tooth but the lump went ages ago.

mrspatpat · 05/01/2013 22:31

I have a similar pain and small lump under my arm but have had it since before I got pregnant, so for 7/8 months now. I paid to see a specialist and had it ultrasounded. they didn't figure out what was causing mine but ruled out all the bad stuff, so while it's uncomfortable I'm not stressed about it.
apparently you can get bits of extra breast tissue under your arms and in pregnancy with all the extra hormones it can become tender, just like regular breast tissue. It could be a swollen gland caused by infection either. it is worth getting it checked by your doc though.....

Thanks for all your replies. I really do appreciate it. I'm getting the ultrasound Tue so will update. Hopefully to say it's nothing Smile

Just to add, I had this with my last pregnancy and now with this one too (36 weeks). Was completely freaked out the first time but this time just thought 'oh yes, this is what my body does when pregnant'. Got it checked out just in case (consultant exam and ultrasound) and it's just excess breast tissue apparently - like last time - so I'd be happy to bet that's what yours is too. My biggest problem with it this time is how ugly it looks - no one tells you pregnancy is going to give you fat armpits Grin And I have to say, while they did go down after I gave birth, they never quite returned to normal. I am destined to have chubby armpits forever now, I think...

Mylittlepuds · 06/01/2013 11:38

Thanks bean. I'm just desperate to hear that it's not bad news and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy. Was yours quite deep? Mine is. You can kinda move it. I'm just worried it's a swollen lymph node caused through something serious like breast cancer or lymphoma. I'm not sure if mine is a bit tender as I've been feeling it so much or 'cos it just is.

Mine is quite deep too, and slightly moveable. It doesn't hurt unless I press on it and then it's really tender and sore. Obviously I don't know for sure, but I'd be surprised if yours is anything serious - I think this kind of thing is quite common in pregnancy, or at least that's what I've been told. Hope all goes well on Tuesday - try not to worry, though I know that's easy to say!
