I had an early scan today as I had a mmc early this year. According to my calculations I am 7 weeks along and the sonografer said that I'm 5.5 weeks. She told me to come back in a weeks time. I'm really worried now and praying that I will be ok. Has any of you ladies had a similar experience??????

Bad news...... I had a scan this AM and she saw the fetus but no heartbeat. She wants me to come back in two weeks time as she said we will know for certain then. Is it even possible to see the heartbeat then a week later not see it and after two weeks see it again?!?!!

Sorry you had bad news today... I suppose it is possible to see a HB after a scan not showing it, though probably unlikely. Almost don't want to share my experience as it's not a good one, so feel free to ignore....

My most recent MC I started bleeding heavily, went to hospital, scan showed HB but dated me a couple of weeks behind what I thought I should have been. So I got my hopes up, but then carried on bleeding and by the following week my scan showed a complete MC. I'm sorry for your sad news. (Hug)

Hi twolittlemonkeys. Thank you for your message. I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm not bleeding or cramping but it might well start soon. This will be my third miscarriage. I want a baby so badly. Sometimes I feel like I will never be a mum :(

Oh Anya,
I am so sorry to hear your news today. I really thought that hearing a heartbeat = high chance everything is going to be ok.
My thoughts are with you at this time, I hope everything turns out ok or if it doesn't this time, it won't be long until it does.
I've had 4 MC and a CP, do I know how hard it must be for you right now. I never thought I would get to hold a baby in my arms but I hung on in there and now have my beautiful precious DD. Hang in there, even though it feels so unfair and as if it will never be your turn, I am sure you will be a mummy one day. Some of us just have to wait alittle longer.
In the meantime look after yourself and your OH, who if he's anything like mine, will be silently devastated too although rubbish at showing it!
Also please please please go to your GP and DEMAND immediate referral to your nearest recurrent MC clinic. 3 MC in a row is very rare and suggests there might be something wrong. I'm now on a whole host of medication to hopefully sustain my current pregnancy. There are often reasons for multiple recurrent MC that can be easily diagnosed with a blood test and solved with medication, which can hopefully save you further heartache and allow you to one day hold that precious baby in your arms.....

Thank you orangeone. I'm 36 and I feel like I'm running out of time :(

I had my DD at 34 and I'm pregnant this time at 36. It gets harder as we get older but not impossible. In fact I was the youngest in my NCT group (2 were nearer to 40!).....

orangeone · 08/10/2012 23:00

How are you Anya? Any news?

confuddledDOTcom · 09/10/2012 00:32

There are a lot of calls to get the number of miscarriages lowered because any is too may and also the whole 12 weeks thing lowered. If men carried babies miscarriage would be taken as seriously as it should be.

Please push for answers don't be fobbed off with age or any other excuse, make sure they take massive amounts of blood to test for everything!

I have told my story on here before, but here it is again:

Due to previous MC's and the prior pg being a SB, I had an early scan when I should have been 6 weeks+. They couldn't see a gestational sac, told me my pregnancy wasn't viable, and to have a chemical termination. I refused.

I then had a scan when I should have been 8+ weeks, and was told that they could see a gestational sac, but no fetal pole, the pregnancy was definitely unviable, and I should have a D&C to removed 'retained products of conception'. I refused.

I had a scan at 12 weeks...and measured exact for my dates!

My 'not viable pregnancy' is now my 20mo DS3, who is currently snoring and drooling on his teddy bear...

Note to self - RTFT. Sorry, OP.

Secondsop · 09/10/2012 03:15

Anya really sorry to read this; I hope you are ok. If all doesn't work out ok, I echo the comments of other posters about demanding to be seen for recurrent miscarriage so that they can see if there's anything wrong . A doctor told me that the percentage of women at her recurrent miscarriage clinic who ended up with a healthy baby was really very high - over 80% - so the odds are in your favour.

Re your age, I had a miscarriage last year at age 35, almost 36, (my only one so far touch wood) and one of the sonographers told me that age was on my side in terms of future pregnancies. This came as really welcome news as i'd convinced myself I was absolutely ancient. So don't lose faith. I wish you all the best.

LauraPalmerPlusOne · 09/10/2012 08:43

OP - you're not running out of time. I'm 38 (39 in January), and currently 22wks after 2 previous MCs. But do insist on testing with your GP. I was on progesterone and aspirin for this pregnancy.

Take good care of yourself over the next few weeks.

confuddledDOTcom · 09/10/2012 13:24

Secondsop, that makes sense to me, TBH. One of the biggest causes of miscarriage and even higher of recurrent miscarriage is Hughes Syndrome. Hughes has about a 18% chance of successful pregnancy untreated (so don't anyone let anyone tell you that a successful pregnancy means there's nothing wrong with you!) but with treatment it has a better than 80% chance of successful pregnancy.

Anya1976 · 09/10/2012 14:39

Unfortunatelly I started bleeding on Sunday. The bleeding turned very heavy yesterday so it looks like I've miscarried. The only good thing is that it wasn't a missed miscarriage like last time. I really didn't want to go to the hospital and have a D&C done. Thank you all for your messages Thanks

So sorry to hear this Anya. Hope you are looking after yourself and being kind to yourself. I know how horrid this time is and how easy it can be blame ourselves and think we will never get there. But you will. As I did and hope to do again.
When you feel strong enough please go and get yourself checked out at a recurrent mc clinic, which hopefully will save you more heartache in the future.
My thoughts are with you.

Really sorry to hear this Anya - hope you're ok. As it all happened naturally though it does bode well for your hormones returning to normal levels soon. Thinking of you x

Hi anja, had exactly the same thing, (by my rec i was 7.5 weeks, by theres 5.5) then turned up at my 12 week scan to say I had gained it back and was now 14 weeks oops. I am now 18 weeks and going strong, some babies just grow at different paces! Hope all has gone ok.

NicJM · 10/10/2012 16:35

Hi. I thought I was 9 weeks pregnant but on my early scan I only measured 5 weeks and 6 days. I do not know how long my cycles are but could be between about 34 and 49 days so wondering if this could be why. Though I do know the exact date of my last period. They have said either this is early pregnancy or a missed miscarriage. A gestational sac correctly positioned can be seen containing a yolk sac and a possible 5.6mm fetal pole but no hb. I have had 1 previous partial molar pregnancy and 1 normal pregnancy resulting in a beautiful little girl. We are having another scan on Monday but I am terrified and thinking the worst. Anyone else any experience of this?

bobsimum · 20/12/2012 06:50

Any update on NicJM would be great pleaseeeeee?! Anyone else in the same situation?! Love goes out to you Anya xxxxx
