Movicol isn't recommended for use in pregnancy as its safety profile hasn't yet been established - it is a "last resort" medicine in pregnancy if other options have failed. Lactulose and Fybogel are considered safe. [I'm a GP and also 33 weeks having had horrendous constipation throughout!] Lactulose gives me tummy pain so I've been taking Fybogel twice a day and drinking lots of water. Even that wasn't enough until I started having half a bowl of All Bran with my morning cereal every day - the combination of the 2 are just about keeping me going. Got to be All Bran - Bran Flakes have a lower fibre content! Good luck :)

I could eat all bran I quite like it!
I'm sure fybogel is over the counter or have I hallucinated that?

This is 2nd pg I didn't have this last time.

Felt better today but dreading the inevitable Sad mind you all I want to eat are ice lollies now so maybe that will help Grin

I agree with ladymarian - a shot of prune juice a day helped me :)

FLAXSEED!!!!!!!!!!!! best thing ever! i priomise - i was so bunged up in my second i cried on my midwife. did all the usual things, prunes, figs, lactulose etc but the only thing that really worked was Flaxseed (also called linseed). just sprinkle some on your meals. its tastes a bit nutty and you can get it def from health food shops and bakery bits of supermarkets. honestly, have never looked back and advice all my pregnant friends the same. my mate was in a real state (heavily preg with twins with piles and con) and the seeds helped her.

It is over the counter. I was going to recommend that after you've managed to ... remove the blockage. I have a sachet of fybogel every morning and a bowl of branflakes in the evening and that keeps things moving along nicely. Also drink loads.
