Refusing antenatal care

This is a bit if a sad thread. Dp works with a guy who is from Scotland and whose gf is pregnant. They live in England and this guy is fiercely anti English, so much so that he didn't allow her to see any medical professionals during her pregnancy. No Mw , no hearing the heartbeat, no anomaly scan, no bp check, or pre eclampsia, no urine check she went it alone.

Just found out tonight that they had a stillborn as the cord was around its neck and there was no medical help.

What a phenomenal waste of a tiny life.

I understand that antenatal care is not compulsory but for the sake of proving a point you would risk the life of your partner and baby.

Words fail me. R.i.p little baby

As an outsider just logging on and reading this thread, I have to say that there an awful lot of assumptions going on here.
We hardly know what goes on behind the closed doors of our nearest and dearest let alone a guy who works with your husband.
While abuse of any kind is abhorrent (I went through it at 18) I would hate to think that complete strangers were discussing what they know little about on a website. It's hardly helpful to the poor girl you suspect is suffering at the hands of her partner.
I'm sure some of you will completely disagree with me an will no doubt tell me so.

what nonsense.
is there a link?

I agree , and the post was not meant to be inflammatory, merely sadness and shock at an awful situation.

His issue could have been anything, not necessarily him being Scottish but a hatred of medical professionals, or any other prejudice. I was saddened that he would let whatever he was on his soapbox about jeopardise his family.

I appreciate it is insensitive to discuss others problems behind their backs but this is a forum for discussions and I felt it would be good to hear others opinions on the situation.
