How many nappies will I realistically need?

I will be having a c section in 13 days (squee!!) and this is my first baby. He is expected to weigh around 7lb (will be 37+0 on the day). I am single and obviously won't be driving for a little while so definitely don't want to run out of nappies. I have a variety of sizes but don't know how many newborn / size 1 I should need?? Can anyone share what worked for them? Thanks :)

I agree with having them delivered, I bought a few packs buggies and a few pampers to see which I prefer, hated the huggies so I've got about 150 I never used and I went and bought lots of the other!

My little girl is 6 weeks and she's just gone on to size 2

I had a section also and was driving after 3 weeks so it might not be as bad as you think, I felt ready after 2 weeks but just couldn't be bothered going to my doctors for the go ahead x

Huggies not buggies!!

You may not have supermarkets that deliver deliver, but Macdonalds does Envy

Fishpond · 13/06/2012 12:55

OhNo, there are certainly no mcDonalds that deliver here!! That's in big cities Sad

I think I shall buy one more big box of size 1's - my local walmart has just started selling packs of 200 I think same as Costco (we don't have a Costco here either Sad)

Get a couple of different brands as well as they all seem to work best on slightly different body shapes.
Congrats btw hope it goes well for you x

Set up an account with a local taxi firm? I'd do my nut if i were completely housebound for several weeks!

fishpond sorry just had to comment that's mad that the supermarkets don't deliver! Seems so backward!!

I am estimating 20 nappies per day initially (twins). I plan to use reusable nappies after 4-6 weeks but I am slowing stocking up on disposables. So far I have bought 280 nappies when ever they are on special (either Huggies or Pampers). However, if they need about 10 nappies each per day I need to buy more! 280 will only last about two weeks!

You could always slowly build up your stock pile.

gardenpixies32 · 13/06/2012 14:30

slowly stocking up

monkeymoma · 13/06/2012 14:44

don't stock up on all 1 brand till you know which shape suits your baby first
don't stock up too much on any one size, mine flew up the first few sizes and I always had boxes left over which I had bought on offer (false economy!)

buy a some in first size and some in the next size up, if you run out you can always make do with the next size till you get some more

monkeymoma · 13/06/2012 14:44

don't kiddicare deliver nappies?

monkeymoma · 13/06/2012 14:44

next day delivery too!
