Anyone know any baby car seats which fit a 3 door yaris?

Having a nightmare trying to find a carseat that fits. Maxi cosi website insists cabriofix fits but took it to Halfords today and bot at all a good choice according to the fitter.

I have a 5 door Yaris and had a Cabriofix fitted at Mothercare yesterday. At first the woman said the back seat seemed a bit shallow, but then she whacked it a few times and said it would be fine! You've got me wondering now though, as this is the car seat we were going to buy. What was it that made it a bad fit according to the Halfords fitter? I can't imagine there's a big difference between the interior size of the 3 door and 5 door Yaris.

Our car had rear seats with quite a steep pitch. Mothercare, JL and Halfords tried to fob me off with maxi-cosi. Went to place in Milton Keynes and they recommended a Britax. The maxi cosi turned out to be the worst option of the lot, baby would have been leaning forward the whole time, not good for breathing!

Ps - this Q will probably get better responses on the car seat thread

We used to have a 5dr Yaris and our Graco carseat fit fine (can't remember exact model, part of a travel system). We had the car seat base mind you so the seat just clicked in but the Gracos have a dial on the side that turns orange if the seat is at the wrong angle (and white if its right)

Twittwooo they said the buckle of the Yaris was too far up and was making the unit unstable which I have to say I agreed with and was told this by a car seat specialist in a pram shop too (which was why I went to Halfords to try it as Maxi cosi website says it fitsConfused). It was also hanging over the seat putting the front passenger seat at an incline and any interference from the front passenger could cause problems as it wasn't very secure in the first place.

Toomuchtooyoung thank you I have posted this on carseat thread too.

If you can get to the safety centre at Milton Keynes, they are really good at getting you the right seat. They are also one of the few places that stock extended rear-facing seats, so you could buy a seat suitable from birth to 5 years. There are some new models out. They may be able to advise what is suitable for your car over the phone.

Unfortunately I have found the people in Halfords and Mothercare have very poor training and a dangerous lack of knowledge.

You can also plug car make into Britax website (then go to Halfords if they have good prices).

I have a 3 door Yaris. I used a Maxi-Cosi Pebble which fit so long as the rear seats were not pulled forward at all (if yours are adjustable) and the front passenger seat was pulled nearly all the way forward. So, you can make it work but it's not really a great option.

However, once my dd transitioned to the bigger forward facing seat (Maxi-Cosi Pearl), it fit like a dream. Very easy to get her in and out of the seat.

I'd look for something other than Maxi-Cosi if I were you. I only stuck with it bc the Yaris isn't the car I normally drive.

I just bought a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix to use in a 2 door 2008 Yaris and was quite concerned that it might not fit. I thought that when passing it through from front to back, it would have to be angled to get in through the fairly tight space. I can happily assure you that, upon opening the front passenger door, the car seat will snugly pass through the front into the rear seat horizontally without having to angle it in any way and is quite easy to lock into place with the seat belt. This was a great relief.
