Hi, I had anomaly scan last week, and they found a fluid filled lump, 1x1.5cm growing out of the back of my baby girls bottom. Nothing else seemed to be wrong, but they didn't check everything because of position. They have not said anything about what it could be, and I have specialist appt tomm. To scan again.
Sick with worry. On consulting dr google, the only thing I can come up with is Sacrococcygeal Teratoma?...does anyone have any experience of this, or similar findings at ultrasound?

Don't really know much about these things but pls ask for them to rule at neuroblastoma. It can be detected on sans and be cured

My scan showed that my unborn DS has a fluid filled lump o n his right kidney. The consultant said it was nothing but a cyst probably. Have another scan (my 2nd detailed scan) next Monday to see whether it has grown or shrunk. (I'm 26+5 btw)

The consultant also said that they can shrink & by the time of birth so I'm not going to worry until they say something is wrong.

My Mum said my sister had a cyst on her face on the scan, but it was gone by the time she was born.

Try not to worry until they tell you somethings up and stay away from Google, you'll stress yourself silly. And pregnancy stressful as it is Grin

Hope everything is okay for tomorrow

Thanks ladies, I know I should stay away from google... Just very worried.

OMG...Rubylovesmaymay , I had the same thing at 20 wks scan and am 26+4! I have 2nd scan tomorrow to see if it has changed in size.

Been trying not to worry but cant wait to check tomorrow.
Will keep you posted.

greengoose, definitely do stay away from google where poss. It makes your worry worse. Stay positive and in the same way...it will most likely shrink to nothing!! x x

RubyLovesMayMay · 22/01/2012 19:02

Macca74 it's probably more common than we think it is then. My Mum never mentioned the cyst my sister had until I told her what happened at my scan and my sister is 22!

My little one is kicking the shit out of me very active so Im just assuming he's ok. It's also nice to have another peek at them on the scans where we wouldn't have otherwise.

Let us know how you both get on x x

greengoose · 23/01/2012 21:05

Hi, just to update you, I had consultant appt today, and it is SCT, which means its really serious. About 50/50 whether she'll make it, and big op after birth if she does.
We have to go up to Bristol for a more specialist appt next week, so should know more then.
I'm a bit frantic..... If anyone knows anyone who has had this, I'd really like to hear from them......

SukieQ · 23/01/2012 21:23

Really sorry for such awful news. Hope you have all the support you need around you. No experience of this, but wanted to bump incase someone else does.

RubyLovesMayMay · 23/01/2012 22:42

So sorry to hear that greengoose was really hoping it was something minor. Hope you're ok & you have support. (((hugs)))

TCOB · 23/01/2012 22:47

I'm so sorry that this is happening greengoose. Came across this, sorry you may have already seen it. Everything in the world crossed for you and your little baby girl. www.sctcharity.org.uk/

greengoose · 26/01/2012 10:56

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone. We go to Bristol tommorow and should get some answers, but I'm not that hopeful anymore.

It's been a bit of a crappy year with two miscarriages and then this.... I thought it was going to be fine this time!

Anyway, I'm still holding on to some hope, and I don't think we will abort, as it just feels wrong when I can feel her kicking and wriggling.... She deserves her chance at this never mind what the experts say.

Ill let you know if there's any news.

surfmama · 28/01/2012 17:10

hello green thinking of you, hope your alright.

greengoose · 30/01/2012 20:36

Hi all, sorry for delay in getting back to you. We went I Bristol and were seen by a fantastic consultant, and a surgeon, who both said that our little girl was doing really well, and that they should ba able to remove the lump after birth. They thought, for what it is, it was better than many they have seen, so hopeful she will make it.
We have to be seen and scanned every two weeks, and are considering transferring care to great ormond st as they see this kind of thing more often.
The consultant said on e of the theories as to the cause is a twin that hasn't developed..... Which makes sense as both my and dps grandfathers were twins....
We are more hopeful now, but have a long few months ahead, keep your fingers crossed for us all!

Good news Smile.
You are doing just brilliantly for your little girl.

Hi, I know this is an old thread and your little one didn't make it. I found these posts because our baby has been diagnosed with SCT just recently.

It is a big shock for us both and it still hasn't sunk in quite yet. We are trying to get as prepared as possible for this but it is really tough, not knowing what's going to happen in the near future.
Reading your profile Greengoose has made me feel very sad. Up until last week I had never heard of the condition, and now it's all I think about day and night.
