Beginnings of labour? Should I feel this bulge down below?!

My due date is today. Already had a ds (20mo). Woke up with chronic back ache and cramps at the top of the thighs, chilled out today with my TENS machine (having a home birth so not much else to do). The pain has subsided to be a bit dull, but I am suddenly acutely aware of a bulge in my fanjo. It feels as though there is a grapefruit pressing against it from the other side...could this be the head and is it normal to feel this? Or could it be my waters?

Ds was an easy labour (woke up 10 cms gone and literally began to push whole ordeal was over in a few hours) so I "missed" the beginnings of labour and have no idea what I should be expecting. I know not to bother my midwife to come out until I have contractions/a show (have rung to let her know I'm feeling a bit weird though).

Is it normal?

don't know the flavour do we?

so Noel? ( I know I know) Noelle?

Tinselperion · 01/12/2011 22:13

While we're all waiting with bated breath, has everyone seen that youtube video of the lady who gives birth suddenly in the bath while her husband has just popped down to let the midwife in - she just calmly scoops the baby up and cuddles it while it starts crying lustily.

schroeder · 01/12/2011 22:13

I'm wearing out the F5 button here!

Hoping EEC and baby are safe and well, but I need to go to bed.

Good luck

latrucha · 01/12/2011 22:14

Does anyone remember the thread from last year (year before) of the baby born in all that snow?

SlugsAndSnails · 01/12/2011 22:14

Good luck OP! To my relatively inexperienced eyes, just the one but relatively quick birth, it surely means baby is one the way and you are SO calm!!! I hope someone arrives to be with you in time.

PacificDogwood · 01/12/2011 22:14

at 'she's washing her hair' - not likely Grin

PacificDogwood · 01/12/2011 22:16

Oh yes, the snow baby, but that must be 2 years ago now, isn't it?

OhThisIsJustGrape · 01/12/2011 22:16

I remember that thread, I think it was 2 years ago as I was pregnant at the time. Baby had a very cool name, Jimi (as in Hendrix) something I recall?

morethemerrier · 01/12/2011 22:16

BoffinMum · 01/12/2011 22:17

latrucha · 01/12/2011 22:17

Wasn't he called Jimmy? That was a lovely thread.

Poor OP probably feels se can't come back with out a baby now.

You can, OP. Smile

morethemerrier · 01/12/2011 22:17

Calms down having seen gross overuse of exclamation marks in last post. Blush

BonzoDooDah · 01/12/2011 22:18
