Ladies,

can anyone recommend a private obstetrician at Queen Charlotte or St Mary's (complicated pregnancy)? Names such as Prof Bennett (Queen Charlotte)or Mr Raj Rai (St Mary's) were mentioned to me in the past.

Any input would be most welcomed!

Thank you!

Raj Rai is absolutely fab! He did my recurrent miscarriage testing and i wouldnt have DD now if it wasnt for him. If i could have gone to him for my pregnancy i would have in a flash but funds did not permit.

He really is great. i would thoroughly recommend him.

Hi, would highly recommend Mr Andrew McCarthy at Queen Charlotte, I had a very complicated/ high risk pregnancy with my son and he was great throughout the pregnancy and afterwards. A very safe pair of hands to be in. PM me if you'd like an more details/ information.

I hope you're ok and have been well looked after so far during your pregnancy.

My sis has used Etienne Horner at The Lindo Wing for both her boys and reckons he's fabulous.

Hi - would second Dr McCarthy at Queen Charlotte. Incredibly reassuring and sensible and very thorough. Also very approachable which I have felt is very important and inclusive of fathers/partners - which for some reason is often starkly lacking.

Prof Bennett is also great. Calm, thorough and easy to talk to. We'll definitely be using him again for our next baby.

My sister had two babies under Mr McCarthy at Queen Charlotte - the first was a planned CS (breech baby) and the second a CS after an attempted VBAC. She was perfectly happy with what had happened to her... until I had a standard NHS MW-led pregnancy/birth, and then felt very jealous! There are disadvantages to obstetrician, as opposed to MW, led care!

Thank you ladies. This is really helpful! I had a lot of problems with my first pregnancy (on bed rest since week 24) and this one is already proving challenging, therefore looking for a consultant who 1) would be understanding 2) would be able to see me at short notice in case of emergency. Has any of you had any experience with this (esp prof Bennett and Mr McCarthy). I only have the experience of the NHS side of Queen Charlotte and St Mary's and I must admit I am leaning towards Queen Charlotte as it seems very clean, well organised and the stuff seemed extremely pleasant and understanding. But then it seems like some of the consultants only see private patients once a week. Hmmm. Sorry for the long post but I really want to make sure I am well looked after having had a very stressful pregnancy with #1! Thanks so much again!!!!

Etienne Horner - two friends used him and he was fantastic apparently.

Hi ladies,
I'm new to this site but I hope it's okay for me to reactivate this old thread on the off chance that you can now provide some insight into private consultants for delivery at Queen Charlotte's Hopspital. Again, Professor Bennett is one of the consultants who has been mentioned to me and I was wondering if you would recommend him or any one else in particular? Mr McCarthy is not taking on any other patients at this time.
Thanks very much.
