Clexane injections and lupus anticoagulant

Hi all was just wondering if anyone here is having Clexane injections, im 6+4days and after having a miscarrige in april and testing positive for Lupus anticoagulant my midwife has put me on Clexane 40mg just wanted to know how everyone is finding it

I'm on fragmin which does the same thing, injecting twice a day. I'm 9+6 now but have been injecting since january as had mc previously and then was still TTC. I'm on anticoagulants regardless of pregnancy due to previous DVT and PE as well as testing positive for the Lupus anticoagulant.

Some days I hate it but just have to remind myself why I'm doing it and then I get over it. The bruises aren't too bad but I have found that if I inject too quickly I get lumps under the skin. I am just going in the tummy at the moment, leaving the legs for later :)

I just wanted to send you my best wishes and hope you get on with the injections OK.

I injected Fragmin throughout my first pregnancy - it was fine really (although I managed a few spectacular bruises). The only down side was that I had to be induced 10 days early so that the hospital could manage the start of my labour (they didn't want me to go into labour with a full dose of Fragmin thinning my blood). But even that was a strangely serene event in the end.

I'm on Clexane, but because I had a DVT in my last pregnancy. It's ok. It isn't causing me any problems and I have got used to the slight sting as it goes in. It's not really bothering me, to be honest.

I am going to have fun going through airport security with the syringes, though, and you've just reminded me to get a note from my doctor.

Hi. I am also Lupus Anticoagulant positive, and am currently injecting 20mg of Clexane a day, along with 75mg of aspirin.

After 4 miscarriages I was diagnosed with LA, and then had a successful pregnancy using Clexane & aspirin.

DD is now 2.1 years, and I am pregnant again now (5+3) and fingers crossed the Clexane does the trick again!

I'm on clexane too-some days it stings more than others, but injecting it slowly definitely helps. I can't link to it because I'm on my phone but there's a good thread around with lots of tips on how to make it sting less-hopefully if you search for it, it'll come up.

Ooh - thanks Pink. I'll look at that. I've actually got a cracking bruise from thins morning because I was in too much of a rush to hold the cotton wool on for very long...oops.

No worries. One thing though, are you pressing on it afterwards? I heard that you shouldn't touch it for a while after because it makes it bruise ( although sometimes it bruises anyway....)

The nurse who gave it to me said to press on it firmly for at least a minute, or it would bruise. To be fair, she seems to be right. I've been doing it for weeks and today's the first day I haven't pressed on it for long and got my first bruise.

Fair enough. My instructions from the doc and the leaflet were to not rub the area after injecting as this can cause bruising but maybe pressing is good, rubbing is bad!

Yes - she said definitely not to rub but to press hard.

Thanks to you all for replying it is good to know that i'm not alone, its getting a bit easier now to do it myself was a bit unsure at first but I just keep telling myself its for the baby and its whats gonna make this pregnancy a success just keeping my fingers crossed, still get that dreaded feeling when I go to the loo but i'm sure in time that will pass please keep me updated with how you are all getting on

mummyhopes if you wanted some support, there's a 'freakout room' on the conception boards for those that are newly pregnant after miscarriage - they are all lovely and supportive and know exactly how hard those first few weeks of frantic knicker checking are.
