Big Babies

Was told at scan yesterday that baby is measuring appx 8lbs and should be putting on a half pound each week from now. I still have 2-3 weeks to go so am scared at the prospect of biggish baby. He could go on to be 9.5-10lbs according to measurements.

Just wondering if any of you had any experience of having a bigger baby and are the scans at this late gestation genuinely accurate?

Thank you

Not always. We were told ds would be average and in any case no more than 81bs. Even the delivering midwife told us he would be about 7.5 1bs. I felt vindicated after a difficult labour when out came our 91b 3 oz sumo wrestler. He looked so huge and so much older than a newborn!

Midwife said both of mine were really small, but ds was 9lb12, dd was over 10lbs!!!

My ds1 was 6lbs 6oz
my ds2 was 6lbs 13oz
my dd was 9lbs 14 oz and i had an awful 3rd degree tear whan her shoulders came out.
Am pg with no4 so it's a scary thought having this one. They have said growth scans will be done so hopefully not too huge this time.

My DS was born in September weighed in at 10lb 9.5oz, my midwife thought he would be around the 9lb mark! First baby too!
