Narcolepsy and pregnancy

It's a long shot - but is anyone else in this boat?? I'm 21+5 and have suffered from a form of narcolepsy for over 10yrs now (only on meds for last 3 though). I stopped my meds (modafinil) as soon as I found out about pg, and apart from being knackered (but de facto for me anyway) I was doing ok.
However, recently I've been signed off work for a week due to over-tiredness, and I've started having sleep attacks at work again :(
I'm a therapist.....nuff said!

Anyone relate to this??

Oh that's awful! I sympathise with you fully, being pregnant is tiring enough onto of your condition! Although I have to see the funny side of someone poring their heart out to you and you fall asleep on them! I suffer from addison's disease which makes you extremely tired as you don't produce enough cortisol but you just up your medication ro deal with it, but in your case, I think this is one for your consultant! After all, it's not safe for baby if you fell onto your belly, could damage you and baby! Hope everything works out for you, and the stage your at, you should Start to get some energy back soon hopefully x x

thanks for the reply; unfortunately, the NHS treatment/support for narcolepsy is.....zilch other than meds. I don't have a consultant (got discharged as soon as on meds) and pretty much only have myself to measure symptoms by (if that makes sense...)
I don't have the cataplexy bit (where you lose all muscle tone) so no real worries about falling on my belly - I get quite a bit of warning when a sleep attack is coming on, it's just really uncomfortable fighting it - especially when a client is present!
As for feeling less tired soon.....I've felt about this tired for the last 10yrs so not sure what's pregnancy related and what isn't!

Anyone else? xx

Oh my goodness...I'm 2 years late but hey ho! How did you get on in the end? Okay I hope :) I have posted about pregnancy and narcolepsy in the general health area (probably a silly place but I have just joined) and just don't know where I can get advice for employment and financial support. It would be interesting to know how you are now, 2 years on! Xx
