I have heard lots of "a friend of a friend" stories where this has happened even as late as going into labour but never from anyone who has not discovered they were pregnant until really late themselves. Just curious :)

I had suspicions I was pregnant & did a test but had no idea I was 17 weeks!

Joannezipan · 06/04/2011 15:48

I didn't find out until I was somewhere between 24 and 27 weeks - i'm now somewhere between 29 and 32 weeks but not sure exactly where. Scans are not to accurate at a late stage for dating and the midwife disagrees with the scan anyway Hmm

izzybiz · 06/04/2011 15:49

I found out I was pregnant at age 16, had a scan to determine how far along I was expecting to see a 'bean'.
There waving at me was a fully formed baby of 19 weeks and 5 days!
I'd had no idea!

Charleighand Joanne was it your first child?

Yes it is my first. I thought it was indigestion, wind and putting on weight over christmas! Combined with PCOS which was making my periods super irregular I never thought I might be pg. It was a happy surprise! I am 31 years old so time was ticking on and it is good not to have to do all the boring/ worrying waiting at the begining!

nappyaddict · 14/04/2011 09:48

I would love to suddenly find out i was 24 weeks pregnant!

Yes - a good friend did. Admittedly she was already quite overweight so she didn't spot it at first. She had regular periods as she was still on the pill. I think it was antibiotics that caused it to screw up. I don't know what made her take a test in the end but she was somewhat surprised to find herself at 20 weeks - she was suspecting more like 5-6 weeks!

nappyaddict · 14/04/2011 16:31

Joannezipan - When did you start showing? I had a massive bump by then but a couple of my friends didn't. Saying that one's quite tall, and the other's quite overweight.

a 'friend of a friend' didnt find out until she was about 7months along-apparently she still had baby weight from her previous baby (who was still a baby)!

G1nger · 14/04/2011 19:48

So do people this happens to have easy first trimesters? I can't imagine not noticing all of the discomfort, appetite issues, fatigue, palpitations, nausea, and more...!

heartsnflowers · 14/04/2011 19:49

yes in 2 of 3 pregnancies!

nappyaddict · 14/04/2011 20:12

Colleague at work, her DIL a gym instructor, found out she was pregnant when they called the dr out thinking she had appendicitus - she was in labour!!!

Colleague had seen her a couple of weeks previously, def no baby bump but produced a full term health 6lber Shock

jimmijam · 14/04/2011 20:26

nappyaddict i have no idea, just that it would be her 5th or 6th child. i've never actually met the 'friend of a friend'

saoirse86 · 14/04/2011 20:30

CarGirl Shock !!

Another mum on my post natal thread found out at 24 weeks I think it was. I can't remember why it was so late.

Another wasn't quite so late, 14 weeks I think. She had the implant after her DC1 and BF until 18 months. 2 weeks after finishing BF she was pg. It turned out her implant had nothing in it! Shock

Boosaphena · 14/04/2011 20:47

I've always dreamed of this happening. I hate the first 20 weeks of pg do it would be lovely to skip that stage!

Yes. I have had 3 pg's and not found out i'm pg until I was 10+wks gone and only tested because mum said I was pg and I wanted to prove her wrong HmmGrin. I never had any symptoms, other then being tired.

The only time I had any symptons and found out at 4wks, I was so ill with sickness and caught anything and everything I m/c at 10weeks.

LilPud · 14/04/2011 21:09

I was 15 years old and 20 weeks when I found out I was pregnant with DD, there was sickness but no bump, no tiredness, no weight gain and none of the worry and stress that has been part of the course with this pg which I've known about since 4 weeks.

Obv being very young wasn't my best plan tho.

DaphneHeartsFred · 14/04/2011 21:11

38 weeks.

My mum. She went in to labour the next day, partly through shock!

saoirse86 · 15/04/2011 11:23

Daphne how did she find out?

Laurzknox95 · 09/06/2021 17:05

Does this look like a positive result. The line is very thin and blue so not sure if it's a positive or a evaporation line

Anyone not found out they were pregnant until 19 weeks or later?
Watto1 · 09/06/2021 17:10

My mum when pregnant with me! Her periods had always been all over the place and a couple of months without a period wasn’t unusual. After 3 months she took a test and it was negative. This was in the early 1970s so tests weren’t as accurate then. After 5 months without a period the doctor did a blood test and lo and behold she was pregnant.
