I have a massive, painful coldsore on my face. (Not even lip :( ) I know you're not supposed to use Zovirax, but it's the only thing that works. Has anyone any pregnancy-friendly suggestions?

Paranoid yes you can. My doc said no but only because she said she didn't know enough about it.
But my homeopath said yes, my Shiatsu lady said yes and my aunt who is a natropath said yes too. However, to be on the safe side I also contacted the manufacturers of the brand I was taking (think it was Blackmores) and checked with them. They checked with their research department who came back to me with the relevant research bit to say that it was safe.

The people that say no is because they don't know enough about it. L-Lysine is a naturally occuring amino acid in the body and sometimes needs a top up.

Loopy is's the acyclovir (sometimes spelt aciclovir) that people have the heebie jeebies about when pg but you practically have to eat 3/4 tubes of the stuff for it to make a difference. You don't need Zovirax per say, you can use any cream that contains Acyclovir - that's the stuff that makes it work.

Oh and another vote for the patches if you can get the hang of them.
