trace of blood in urine

I had my check up at the hospital today, went on the monitor, and had my cervix checked and a swab taken (posted about that yesterday!), and now I am home, I had noticed on my notes it says a trace of blood in my urine. I phoned back to ask the mw what it might be and she said she didnt think it was an infection, it may have been from somewhere else mixed in with my sample. She said it was nothing to worry about, but I am now really worried! If its not the start of an infection then what is it?? They looked at my cervix and said it was closed and I had normal white discharge, so now I'm paranoid I am going to start bleeding!!!! Anyone??

I had this last week - trace of leukocytes, i.e., white blood cells. MW said it was prob from discharge. She sent my urine off anyway and it came back clear. Good though that you have been swabbed.

Hi I had same as sh77 and sample was sent off but everything clear. I think it can be one of those things that just happens but doesn't mean anythin. This was 8weeks ago for me and have had no problems.

Sorry I meant I had trace of leuk and a trace of blood and all was fine.

Thank you girls, that made me feel better :-) The mw was vey vague and I had to keep on questioning her to get any info out of her, and like you sh77 she said it was maybe from the discharge. Thats why I panicked...I'm thin king I'm going to go to the loo and see loads of blood later on or something! She didnt even say how long it would take for the results to come, sometimes they are so annoying!!
I do get to see my community mw on wednesday tho, so I'll get tested again then in any case.

Don't panic betty- I've had EVERYTHING in my urine this pg (really- protein, sugar, leukocytes, blood, ketones), and all has been fine, no infections. Oh, all fine but the gestational diabetes!

Thanks hon, thats reassuring :-)

I have had blood in my urine throughout my pregnancy, but never any infection. Because it has been ongoing, it has been followed up by doctor - kidney scan and appointments with a specialist - no reason known for it yet, could just be one of those very werid pregnancy things.

A trace is tiny, you wouldn't see it.

through out my pregnancy, there has been loads of times ive had blood in my urine, and it hasnt been a trace its been +++ which apparantly is quite alot. but it was never from infections or anything, mw is not concerned just thinks its been one of those things. its settled down now, im thinking it is just from alot of pressure going off in there, lots of weird things happen in pregnancy. dont panic you will be absoloutly fine :)

Thank you...gues I just got panicked when they mentioned blood! She did say it might have been from discharge rather than my bladder coz I had no symptoms of an infection, but maybe the lower back pain I've had might be the start of something?
Tey did a swab as well though, so I guess anything I have will get sorted out that way. Plus I see my community mw on wednesday so I will find out if it has disappeared by then too.
Still a bit worried about actually going to the toilet and sseeing blood though...maybe coz she said watch out for any bleeding or decrease in movements on the way out...I suppose they say this after any monitoring though????

I've often had traces of blood in my urine throughout my pregnancy and the first few times the midwife sent it away to check for an infection but each time it came back clear. She doesn't even bother to send the samples away now (she would if I had other symptoms) and thinks I just have a sensitive bladder that sheds a few blood cells each time I have a wee.

Oh right, thanks :-)

Hi all I’m new here so not sure how this all works but,I’m 16 weeks pregnant with my first I started to get a pain yesterday morning on the left side of my pelvis and also a dull ache like I used to get on my period so I went to the walk in clinic this morning and I did a urine sample and it had traces of blood in it, the doctor said it was nothing to worry about and sent it off but it will take 72 hours for results so my husband and I chose to go A&E because by this time hearing that there’s blood in my urine has made my mind over think so much! After a 2 hour wait the doctor probes my stomach (really hard) and talks to another doctor like I’m not there and like I’m silly for coming in and worrying about this! They did another urine sample and found blood in that too so are getting it sent off as well but hopefully I will get an appointment tomorrow for a scan to check if baby is ok. My mind will not switch off and I can’t help but feel really down.

How did you end up going? Is baby ok?

Hello, I found out last week it showed blood in my urine test. I am 54 female, non smoking and otherwise healthy, and freaking out. I did another urine test (a 3 day one, tht you mix with a solution ) and waiting for the results. I am ruining my summer, (well its been a week, lol) worrying in fear. HAs anyone had this and did it just turn out to be really nothing? I fear cancer, as everyone does I know.. :( Thank you.
