Hey,

I'm 8wks, Bern in hosp at 6wks with hyperemesis which seems under control now.

But I have a horrendous taste in my mouth all the time, a bit like soap or hairspray.

Has anyone else had this? Is it normal and just a 1st trimester thing? Any advice on getting rid of it?

Thanks!

I have been bothered this, it's horrid isn't it. Also had hypermesis, which passed at about 17 weeks. The taste, however, is still here (27 weeks), although not all of the time now, mainly just when I eat sweet-ish foods. The only thing I can advise re getting rid of it is to work out which foods make it worse for you and avoid them. I also had this taste last time round, but it went at the the end of the first trimester, so hopefully you will find that.

Tic tacs - industrial supplies! It will pass, by which time you may have worked out what foods are the main offenders. My mouth taste was kind of fatty, like stale chips and sugary foods were the worst culprits. Mouth wash and tongue scraping at night also helped

I'm not an expert but it could be ketoacidosis and your blood sugar might be out of line. It would be sensible to speak to your midwife if you are concerned.
