Hi
I'm just intrigued really but waiting for blood results from mu nuchal scan and bloods and wanted to see what others results were at different ages and also scans at different times...

I'm 29 my fold was measured at 2.6 and scan wa taken at 13 weeks 3 days. I have no history of downs in my family but am told that means nothing.

My hospital is supposed to ring within 7 days if it's a. High risk and 7 days are up this tuesday. I've read so many different pieces of advice about what is normal but would rather hear from real ladies...

So how old are you
What was your fold measurement?
What were your blood results
Risk factor?
And when was your nuchal scan carried out?

Just passing the time really but would love any replies. Pregnancy....it's all one long worry so far!!!!

Thanks ladies xx

Is the nuchal test done at the same time as the first scan? I have only had one scan so far at around 13 weeks and some blood tests. The lady who scanned me never mentioned nuchal fold tests and results, and neither had the midwife I had seen previously. The only response I have had from the blood tests is that I have a low iron count and can I please take these extra tablets, blah, blah. So have I missed out on this test as you all seem to have so much more info on your pregnancies than I do? All I have is an A4 sheet giving the crown rump length Confused

Sparklies · 15/01/2011 14:58

I don't remember the odds for my first two - only had NTs not bloods as well (2.2 and 1.6 I believe) and they are both fine. I was 30 and 32 with those.

This one, delivering at 34 - scanned at Fetal Medicine Centre at 12w6d:

NT 2.1mm (1.6mm NHS/12w1d)
bHCG 1.73 (1.91 NHS)
PAPP-A 0.29 (0.2 NHS)

Clear ultrasound (no markers) - 1 in 34 (1 in 60 NHS).
Clear ultrasound at FMC at 19 weeks put it down to 1 in 70.

Now 23 weeks and hopefully getting an amnio at 30 weeks to find out for sure. Waiting it out = no fun. If the odds had been a lot worse I would have done invasive testing earlier.

Sparklies · 15/01/2011 14:59

PS - those are odds of T21. Odds of T13 and T18 off the scale and totally screen negative.

Yaya70 · 15/01/2011 15:04

Good luck Sparklies. I guess it's just the bloods pushing your risk up a wee bit higher. The chances are that everything will be absolutely fine, but the worrying must be stressful for you. I hope the next few weeks pass quickly for you. Did you have a detailed heart scan too?

OffToNarnia · 15/01/2011 15:10

Oh this pregnancy lark can be so stressful. Hope all goes well Sparlies. Try not to worry millimurphy - even on an ordinary 12 week type scan I think they would tell you if they could see anything that would indicate you should have extra scanning - [That has been my experience anyway].

By the way..
-Hello Yaya70, hope all well with you. I have had a name change since we last 'met' but hope to keep this one! Wishing you all the best.

millimurphy · 15/01/2011 15:14

Thank-you OffToNarnia - just a little worried that I have missed some important scan!

Sparklies · 15/01/2011 16:15

Yep - it's my horrific bloodwork that is ruining my odds! I often wonder what my bloodwork was like with my first two, if I'd have had the same worries.

I'm hopeful that as I had bleeding in the first trimester (this can lower PAPP-A) and I have naturally high bHCG with all my pregnancies in early pregnancy, that those numbers are wonky for those reasons. The scans have all been beautifully clear although I did not have a detailed heart scan. They could see nothing wrong from the regular one they did at 19 weeks so they said they didn't see the need.

The most they can do with clear ultrasounds is halve the risk but in reality it's probably better odds than that so I'm cautiously optimistic! They're not terrible, terrible odds, but enough to cast a shadow over everything. I'm already high risk due to incompetent cervix (I have a transabdominal cerclage) so I really didn't need this but oh well - it is all worth it in the end :)

Thanks for all the well wishes! Hoping everything works out great for anyone else waiting on results too.

MommyMayhem · 15/01/2011 16:21

Age: 40
Scan done at: 12 + 1
Measurement: 2.5mm
Risk (after bloods): 1:2

youngblowfish · 15/01/2011 16:43

Age: 26
Gestation: 13 + 4
Measurement: 2.0
Risk after bloods: 1:3600
Nasal bone present, no soft markers

Please try not to worry, especially if you don't hear from the hospital for a while. My results took nearly 4 weeks to arrive in the post, since I was low risk. If there is a problem, they will always contact you very quickly, but AFAIK your NT measurement is within the normal range for your gestation.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Bubandbump · 15/01/2011 17:09

Age: 30
Gestation: 12 + 3
Nt: 4mm increasing to 5mm at 13+ 6
Risk from nt 1:8
bhcg: 3.8 mom
Papp-a: 1.2 mom
Combined risk: 1:4 increasing to 1:2 after second nt measurement
Clear cvs, two specialist heart scans clear, abnormalities scan clear and now fingers crossed..

rubybambini · 15/01/2011 17:14

Age: 38 (now 39)
Date: 14+6
Measurement: too late, so relied on quad test
Bloods / risk: 1:25,000

And then no markers / anything obviously wrong at 20 week scan.

HTH.

JimmyChoo17 · 16/01/2011 17:16

Hi

Yep offtonarnia I must admit I felt a little more panicked! I am amazed at how low everyones results are in comparison!! Confused

I am going to call tomorrow and see whether my results are available.

I wonder if any mums to be manage to fall pregnant and are worry free......?

Fingers crossed and thanks for sharing your results ladies. I had my scan so much later than everyone here too. X

MainlyMaynie · 16/01/2011 20:00

please don't worry about it, 2.6 is really not a high measurement!

(I am in no position to suggest not worrying, I am in a constant state of worrying and assuming something is about to go wrong! We were joking in front of my family about it and saying only another 23 weeks of this worrying to go. My sister said 'I think you'll find it's 18 years and 23 weeks'. My Dad said, 'what makes you think it stops at 18? You're 34 and I'm still nagging your Mum to make sure you get the flu jab'. :o)

snowmummy · 16/01/2011 20:28

MainlyMaynie, I'm nearly 41, the youngest of three, my parents are in their 70's and they still worry about all of us! I think parenthood is a constant worry but its well worth it.

JimmyChoo17 · 17/01/2011 12:45

I rang and my results are not in....the ward manager picked up and was really annoyed that I had been told they would be available in a weeks time!! She wanted to know the names of who told me etc etc...Like I care I just wanted my results :(

Earliest is friday that I can ring. I dont want to go public until I know my results and really annoyed at the pressure from some people to go public! Its mine and my hubbys news so dont see why others feel they have the right to push me to go public just so they can tell people!

Deep down I dont feel really worried or in any way stressed over it but its that angst thats enough to keep it ticking over in my head!

Oh the joys...

And true about the worrying for the next 18 years and beyond!

Hi JimmyHoo. You were told Tuesday though and I think I may well try again tomorrow and hope someone else on duty. I think you have been unlucky to get a grumpy old sod on the phone who sounds like she has 'thrown' Friday out as a date willynilly.. 'Deep down' you say you are not worried but it is clearly bugging you and I know how irritating a pregnancy brain is!
Even though things are probably absolutely fine your brain is not going to stop buzzing until you get your results. Have you spoken to your midwife or a friendly Gp for advice /reassurance? Thinking of you and good luck in getting some info.

OffToNarnia · 19/01/2011 09:38

Hope you ok JimmyChoo.

JimmyChoo17 · 19/01/2011 22:08

Hey offtonarnia!

Well no news yet am going to try tomorrow as Friday has taken too long! My midwife is lovely but my gp is not very nice so wouldn't rely on them. I'm thinking surely the hospital would have rung me with any high risk results by now?

Thanks for thinking of me :)

But now I am not impressed.....someone has been spreading my news without my consent. Everyone that knows (hardly anyone, more virtual people know than real people) and people who shouldnt know have started texting messages etc to us. I am a little peeved if I am honest...

Mainly annoyed because there are certain people who I would rather hear it from me tthan on the rumour mill.....I can hear the upset already! :(

JimmyChoo17 · 19/01/2011 22:09

Sorry that didn't make sense...am tired!

I meant to say everyone that knows, knows it mustn't be general knowledge until I say. And those that do know are supposed to be trustworthy!

twosoups · 19/01/2011 23:21

At 36, my nuchal measurement was 2.7 at 13+3 but there was a nasal bone at the 12 week scan the following week (it was late).

My risk was 1/168

I had an amnio. I have a very healthy little girl without DS.

JimmyChoo17 · 21/01/2011 20:43

Hi I got a 1 in 7300 still low but wish were lower odds!

Oh JimmyChoo, all the stress you have been feeling has probably really brought you down. I hope you feel better soon. Smile

doodledee · 21/01/2011 22:31

Oh god i'm quite worried now reading this post as my results were 1:790 which my midwife said was pretty low but doesn't seem to be compared to everyone else! I'm 38 scan at 13+4 and NT was 1.7mm
