Grin at you two Nics being pram snobs! Tho I entirely agree...

I had a Loola last time for #3. Got rid of the pram (foolish woman) but lent the carseat out. Will be getting that back but am also looking on ebay for another loola for #4.

I quite liked it if you hadn't guessed! Though this time I will def be getting a carrycot to go with it.

I have a travel system (now 7 years old) and only really click car seat onto buggy when DS2 sound asleep in car and I don't want to wake him. (Both the car seat & the buggy have option of lying completely flat though).

Once the rear facing car seat gets put away at around 1, so does the buggy (which isn't huge but bigger & heavier than my trusty maclaren triumph).

My real hate is seeing "travel systems" where there is no option of letting baby lie flat - ie car seat clicked onto buggy that doesn't go flat.

Remember also its much easier & lighter to lift a baby out of a car than a car seat, although they are useful if you take taxis a lot.

If you are on limited budget, you'll get much more for you money 2nd hand on ebay or otherwise.

I was given an old M&P Pilko pram, brought a barely used car seat to fir it for £6 on ebay & the carrycot for £1 (had to collect from Croydon so no one else bid). So I ended up with very expensive travel system for £7. Of course I've since given it all away and used McLaren (again 2nd hand) since DD was about 1 year old as travel system too bulky to carry & carseat/carrycot were long grown out of.

So it can be done really on the cheap. I'm now looking to do the same again as can't use the Mclaren Techno for little babies

I loved M & P pliko, found it very gard wearing and still used it up to 4 years old, so didn't grow out of it. the umbrella fold means it is not far off a maclaren in terms of portability (obviously a bit heavier). Because they are so durable people often hand them on

My friend had a "safety 1st" pram and it broke after about 4 weeks Confused she had to take it back. So I wouldn't buy one online for that reason.

OP even if you can get the pram part for £60 you won't be able to buy a new carseat cheap - and you don't want a second hand carseat unless you definitely know the history of it.

This is often touted as a cheap travel system as it works with the car seat when the baby is tiny and is a lightweight stroller later - but avoid it like the plague, the stroller is really flimsy and all my friends who have had one have had it break, also the car seat is awful and really flimsy and just looks unsafe.

I agree with going to an NCT sale, or looking on ebay (tick the "Nearest first" option) - also try looking on netmums? They have local for sale boards.
